Work and Some More Work
Posted 26th Mar 09, by Jon Lambert
Don't think I haven't been watching you all. I just haven't said much. We barely have any teams at all.

Surveys didn't help, like OldManClayton said. Not because people didn't answer but because I don't know how to respond to the answers. Some said that it should just be some levels put together, some said it should be simple, and some just didn't feel like reading what's already been discussed.

This project can't get anywhere if people aren't interested. If your reason is because no one else is interested, then your lack of interest isn't going to help that. If it is because there isn't much to show, that's because there haven't been much people to make anything, and again, you're not helping. If it is because you think a project like this can never happen, then you aren't really helping the possibility, are you?

So I'm going to give the current groups tasks now, and you can still join the groups if you want.

We'll get interested when we see some pics.

"You" need to start something before asking people for what they want. Don't demand stuff from people when all you do is rant about no one helping you. Like Martin says, we need real pics of whats so far of the game that "you" made...

Why did you use quotation marks for emphasis? Why not bold or italic?

Now I have to go make stuff up. When I started this project, I didn't want to start a game and have others finish it for me. I wanted to make a game with everyone's input, where every aspect of the game is made by everyone. But, if no one wants to do anything without me making something first, then I'll just have to go make something real quick.

Really? All I do is rant? Wow. You go and show me every instance where I ranted and I'll show you instances when I tried to get work done. Oh yeah, again, not a game I made, but a game I wanted everyone to make.

What I meant was, inorder for people to help/be involved in a project like this, most people would want to see a base (like an engine/art, etc.) before being included.

Personally that is what I would want to see if I'm being involved in a big project like this. Don't get me wrong, you may have some great ideas for this game but since you are the project leader of this game, people will at least expect some kind of start and then improve that basis and develop the dream game that you would what everyone to be involved.

If I had just made opinions regarding how this and that would be, people won't go further with their aid (but maybe give opinions).

I was not trying to pick on you or anything, but for a big project like this (which has failed numerous times over the years) you will have to give more from yourself and prepare a basis, so that people would really see your aim and help you out
