Most of the simple stuff is complete. I have a host of enemies and powerups for the game so far. These include:

ENEMIES:
bowls of oatmeal that periodically shoot lumps straight ahead
plates of bacon that launch bacon horizontally across the screen
plates of eggs that launch their eggs at the player wherever they are on the screen
cinnamon rolls, which must be destroyed to earn more powerups

POWERUPS:
refill: allows the player's coffee cup to move faster
sugar cubes: speeds up the player's attacks for a time
spoon: creates an impenetrable, spinning shield (...with a shape similar to a spoon) for a time
triple-shot: the player's attack spreads into three simultaneous shots for a time
creamer: adds another bomb to the player's arsenal

MECHANICS:
The player directs the position of the cup saucer with the mouse; the coffee cup constantly updates its position to sit on the saucer in the proper place. Holding down the left mouse button fires a shot (a squirt of coffee) from the coffee cup; the player has unlimited ammunition for this. Pressing the right mouse button launches a creamer bomb (one of those little disposable cups of dairy creamer), which soon explodes and damages any enemies nearby.

The player is only damaged when enemies or their attacks come in contact with the saucer. However, if the coffee cup comes into contact with an enemy or enemy attack, it will momentarily be unable to shoot.

FEATURES TO DO:
additional common enemies (I'm thinking sausage links need to be implemented somehow)
bosses (to be included: toast & jelly; a short stack of pancakes; a big-ass belgian waffle; a captain's boat [a pineapple filled with fruit salad]; the dreaded creamed chipped beef/S.O.S.)
develop awards and achievements the player can obtain through repeated play-throughs or skilled play
an online scoreboard (FINALLY! I've been putting off this skill for too long now; it's finally time for me to learn how to implement it)
recruit friends of mine to do breakfast-at-a-diner-related sound bytes to add some context
detailed backgrounds
title screen, menus, how-to-play, etc.
slide shows on 'diners of america' and 'how to create ice cream at your diner table' as unlockable achievements

I think four waves is appropriate for this little game. Adding in new things each wave can help prevent it from becoming too repetitive and grind-like.

Any suggestions? Why not leave a comment?

Sounding very unique and like a lot of thought is put into it. Good luck
