The first boss has been finished...It's two spinning pieces of toast that launch toast scrapings at the player. I'm quite proud of this, as it's the first time I've been able to code an end-of-level boss for anything. The game continues past the boss to the next wave, with additional enemies.

Moral of the story: Event Groups are your friends.

Placeholder sound effects are there to inform me when certain things happen; I reckon I'll have to dig around for more appropriate SFX before I'm through.

Speaking of sound, I originally wanted to have at least one 'voice set' to signify events for the player: powerup pickups; player being damaged; boss arrival; etc.. I may end up with more than that, depending on how my band mates and other friends feel about it. These will be unlockable "characters" of sorts, with artwork and pop-up artwork that appears in-game similar to the original "Starfox" game...the difference being that the voices will actually sound like what's printed on screen.

I also have an idea for an artwork contest of sorts to involve fellow Klikkers; more details on this--as well as an official announcement--as the details become nailed down. I'll release a first-level demo prior to the call for entrants, so that players will know what their efforts will go towards.

All these new developments are VERY exciting, but it also means that it will be a lot of work for me. I've already been able to do some things in Breakfast Battle I'd never done before in a project, so it's promising. An online scoreboard, encoded INI files, and the like; it's all very exciting! I'm stoked.

Screen shots of current progress will appear in a bit, as I currently do not have Internet access at my (new) home.
