Sid Menon, writer, writer, and writer some more. Though I like writing music, I'm not quite sure I'm of a high enough caliber to do it for a game.
Sitesled's being a garbagehead right now, so I can't link to anything. But I can e-mail you two short screenplays I wrote if you're interested.
Oh! My god.

Dispite having RPG elements, Lost Valley was never really very story heavy.
As a writer what do you plan on contributing and how can it benefit this project?
I too write music, I have a Yamaha keyboard I compose most my stuff on, but like you mentioned I never think my stuff is game worthy or maybe just wouldnt fit.

Well despite lack of written story, it seems like any of the dialogue/descriptions in Lost Valley was either awkwardly phrased or dry (which I understand, not MIG's first language after all). But dialogue is my strength anyways, not writing an overarching story. But if it's a small enough job that you don't need a writer, that's fine by me.
Oh! My god.

I love lost valley, and would love to see a much smoother, bug free, easier to understand sequel. Click games rarely impress me and though lost valley is fairly primitive in certain areas, It will never cease to impress me.
I'm not sure If I want to join in yet(due to time constraints), but I am pretty damned good at coding custom platform engines with a large amount of features with absolutely NO extensions -if that is fine. I aim for maximum flexibility.
I am a perfectionist and I don't release/show anything to people unless it is 100% bug free. If I do encounter a bug I will slave for hours/days in order to fix it. I have recreated entire engines pretty quickly that were more efficient than the previous so recoding isn't a problem if that becomes necessary at any given point.
Though I am limited on time, I am a very fast coder once I get time. I can code a basic custom engine in minutes, and add all sorts of things within a day/few days If needed.
If you can tell me everything (that you know of at the moment) that would be needed engine-wise, maybe I can figure out if I would be more capable of doing anything at the moment.
I am not limited to platform engines only just fyi =p.
Jason, do you have AIM or any other messenger?

Hello GamesterXIII,
As it stands we need everything that Lost Valley has. I've done some basic coding for my own leisure but i'm not releasing anything as its mainly just for testing etc.
We not only need the platform fighting parts but the map movement too.
Here is a zelda style frame by frame scrolling tutorial I found, i've mostly be using that.
http://www.jsofts.com/lostvalley2/ZeldaScroller.zip
Its mostly a matter of replicating what Lost Valley has and then building upon it.
As for messenger services, I have them, but i'm never on them. Best bet is to contact me via e-mail as my outlook is always open. My e-mail address is jason.orme@ntlworld.com
If you wish to become a members of the team I can grant you access to the private forum where most of the ideas and concept art is located.

I probably don't have anything to offer this team, though I have a question. Is Don Miguel the same guy who created a lot of tilesets for RPG Maker and translated RPG Maker to English?

Well I really don't want to lead you guys in the wrong direction if I don't have enough time. If you are interested in my coding, I'd be happy to mess around with it when I have time.
The zelda scrolling is decent, but it doesn't allow for differently sized rooms. I've made one that does, but I haven't messed with it in ages and believe it could be remade be be even better. - edit - sorry didn't notice the old one used the same size for every screen. Maybe differently sized areas could be a minor improvement from the old?
Is there any way I can get my hands on some of the sprites so I can see if I can replicate the old engine?

lol.. i'm glad you asked that question as I just realised I credited the wrong name.
His name is Miguel Perez. Don Miguel is indeed the guy who translated RPG Maker 95 to english.
Better go change that

lmao thats what I was thinking "wtf don miguel?!" Anyways thats cool. I'll try to rip some in a bit and see what I can do.
Is there any way you could break down what all the engine has? (sorry, but I havent played the game since its release so it's been a while.) I'm definitely gonna put a bit of time into it once I get home which should be within the hour.

These however may be a good enough place holder
http://www.nes-snes-sprites.com/Cadash.html
Well.. in the platform parts the player could of course move, jump, crouch. He could also attack while doing all these things. Don't forget climbing ladders too.
Later on the player could shoot a fireball.
The on map movement the player could move in 8 directions and was animated for 4. He could attack in any direction. There wasn't really much more animated apart from dying and getting hit. The player could also use his magic i.e fireball on the map to attack enemies or destroy a dried out tree for example.
The player would often find holes in the ground or holes in wall and when entering them another screen would appear, usually with some fairy telling you something pointless. A better way to do this would be with the sub-application extension.
Also remember that when the player moved to a new frame, the enemies on the past one would respawn.
