The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Spuds Quest (Beta)
Spud's Quest is a fun platform puzzler with only a few minor flaws. I highly recommend it. Presentation: 10/10 Spud's Quest looks like an old school SNES game. Awesome. Gameplay: 8/10 Gameplay would've gotten a perfect score if it weren't for a couple pixel-perfect jumps, and the fact that it probably could've benefitted from a few hints here or there on what to do next. If you don't know what you're supposed to do, chances are you're not going to figure it out unless you get some help from someone who has either beaten that game or created it. Graphics: 9/10 Everything in this game looks great. The sprites and backgrounds are all original and mesh well together. The only complaint I had was some things didn't look the way they should have in order to make the puzzle solving easier. (Such as: "Oh, that's supposed to be a vent I can pry open with a crow bar? It looks like part of the wall. How was I supposed to know that!?") Sound and Music: 9/10 All original sounds, music (I think). Sort of annoying at times. Lastability: 1/10 This is the game's biggest weak point. Once you've finished this game, there's no reason to play it EVER again. There are no bonuses, secrets or rewards for finishing the game. A timer and point system would have been appreciated. High Score, Best Time Overall: 8/10 Play this game! It might have absolutely no replay value and a terribly dissapointing ending, but it's very good and deserves some attention. Let's hope for an improved sequel!
