The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: PaintWar 2
Paint War sets itself up to be a very good game. Through its good intro and impressive graphics it leads you into a very playable and worthwhile game. Although a very good game, there are a few little things that get in the way of it becoming a classic. Gameplay: The game basically involves lots of clicking and good reflexes, at times. It works well most of the time and makes the game quite that extra bit more challenge I suppose. Moving around is probably the only fault of this. The urge to want to hold down the mouse and move around, like in games like Diablo, is probably to strong in me, and having to click continiously rather than hold slows it down a bit. Another thing is those damn tombstones, they get in the way, and if an enemy dies close enough to you, your stuck! Little things I know, but they add up. The AI is not really what I expected. Sometimes they seem reluctant to shoot when they basically standing next to me, and others they keep on shooting, even when their's not chance of them hitting. They seem to agressive, as they try to run and shoot through trees and don't stop. But the AI can be a good challenge at times. Presentation: What can I say, the graphics are good. The trees are nice and so is the intro, although it could be of benefit being able to skip the intro. The main menu is well made, although it took me a while to work out to press Esc to go back. My only real problem with the presentation of the game, if you could call it that, is the music. Although the music itself is quite good, and being MOD files means good quality, I find it the Wave balance of my sound settings is turned up full at the start of every frame and music is blasting out at me! This does get annoying, there should be a way to change this in the game. Lastability: This is the part of the game I find the best. The game is fun to play! However, the AI probably makes it a bit easy and the music problem lets this side of the game down alot. The different play modes make the game good to come back again, and a large campain mode make for good progression. The simple thought that there are more weapons for me to get also keeps me going. It could prove to be quite addictive. Overall: The game deserves credit. I think everyone should give it a go. If it didn't have just a few little glitches that stop it being a more 'professional' game, I think this would be an quite original and classic Click game in an old school sense. Worth a look anyway!
