The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: Maze
Gameplay: I like the idea of racing the other ball through the maze. I don't really think the baddies add much to the game, however, since you have either only a few that are easy to avoid, or too many clumped together. Also, in the earlier levels, you don't have START and FINISHED marked, and so you're not sure where you're supposed to be going. In the later levels, you have a scrolling maze, but without any warning, and it nearly impossible to see the pathway because it's off the screen. You need to include a help file or screen, because I didn't know I won when my ball disappeared off the edge, so I didn't push escape. I don't understand the scoring at all, and when I click on the Options button it doesn't work. The ball controls are good, and the maze layouts are good as well. An enjoyable game to play. Presentation: I don't have a problem with the photo backgrounds, but they contrast too much with your grahpics. You need to spend more time making them look professional, especially the keys and doors. I do like your titles, however. This is coming from a person who can't draw at all, but it shouldn't be too hard for you to redraw them, seeing as how you did a good job on the baddies. Also, the clapping at the end is no good. It's too loud, and doesn't fit with the rest of your sounds. Lastability: I don't understand the high scores, so I'm not inclined to try for them. Maybe an online high score table would help. Otherwise, once you've beat a maze, it's over and there's not any point in playing it again. Overall: It's not a bad game- I give average games a 5, so if my review sounded harsh it's just because the flaws are easier to emphasize than the qualities. I like your maze designs. I look forward to seeing future work.
