First TGF game.. Sort of made it up as i went along.

Defend your farmland from intruding hordes of aliens, mutated goafers (or dogs?) and Ufos. And have a few cold ones.

Go git em!

Oh.. i swiped some soundeffects from Natural Selection, so thanks to those guys!

Did you make your own graphics? wow, thats rare for a first game XD

(For a first game).

Very good game! The sounds make it feel like a classic game and the graphics are awesome! 9/10

Ho Ho.. Thanks a lot! To me, making the graphics and the animation is what makes it worthwile. Im thinking of adding in a few more level themes and some new enemies to go with em.. And probably a shotgun :) I made a reload animation and put some code in for it, but it didnt really do much for the gameplay, so i took it out. Good call, bad call? opinions?

Nice work. Is that the default platform engine?

Posted by Teapot 4th January, 2005

Go to the alien's and dog's 'object preferences' and totally un-check 'inactive if object far from window'.

Posted by Arthur Blake 5th January, 2005

Hmm... they are un-checked? You mean under scrollings? Yes its the default platform engine.. i guess? :)

yea, nice game, quite simple but graphics and sounds are great

Posted by Arthur Blake 5th January, 2005

Yeah...I keept it pretty simple. Did'nt want to get to carried away and not ever finish it.

This is great for a first game. I wish everyone put this much effort in their games from the start.

Fun game! I like the little gameplay touches, like shooting down the UFO to kill enemies with its explosion, and having the tractor clear out enemies when you respawn. The graphics and particle effects are good, although the farmer appears to change gun hands when he turns around (obviously flipped).

Posted by Noyb 10th January, 2005

As in he uses his right hand to shoot when facing right, and his left hand when facing left.

I like this... Juicy death animations and quite fun gameplay... I would add more hitspots and make the bullets fly without dead angles, but this is good =)

Nice game, I just started playing the really old nintendo games again. This game has that sort of feel to it. good job.

Great job..! I'm a big fan of games that have mouse aiming implemented. Make sure you keep that in your next game (if it's the same genre). One annoying thing I've encountered, however, is that if I ever click my mouse off the screen, I can never get the aiming to work right again--the cursor never comes back. You can move and jump, but just not aim. This would be okay if my cursor never left the screen, but with a relatively small screen it's bound to happen. Maybe this is a Windows XP thing on high resolutions or something. But try to solve this issue if you ever get the chance.
