Ive been working on few pixel works for no particular reason. They often turn out to be animals.
My original plan was to build up a massive collection of animals before I post them here, but I figured that as I progressed Id probably improve beyong my original works and not be happy enough with them to post them. Anyway these are the fruits of my labour:

The elephant and the owl is just too perfect.
The snake could use a little work with straighten out some lines and the yak looks, as you say, a little bit flat.
But don't take this as negative critism, your art is like awesome!
Nice! It's cool how you have the step-by-step GIFs. It's weird how you start with circles and lines. What is that snake eating? It has a weird cirle at the end of its tongue.
most animators start out with a line of action and basic circle shapes. i think the colours are kinda strange, especially the elephant, gives it an original style tho i spose.
Yeah, I think it is important for me to include my process animations. For me it IS the process thats important, rather than the finished product. I also think it can help newbies to pixel art how to plan things rather than jumping straight in.
Id also like to note that I drew the characters by hand first and planned on paper what I wanted to do with them.
Like dave said, the lines and shapes are used as a guideline. They are especially helpful when drawing centric shapes.
Weston: The snake's tongue is actually spelling my name (ist). It looks a lot better one a darker background (check it out over at www.pixelation.cjb.net ).
Noodle: Thanks for the kind words, but alas my involvement in games recently has been very minimal. Im currently working on some graphics for a project by Muz. So look out for it.
