even if the ships were ripped thats like what? 1 sprite out of hundreds? not counting the full sceneries produced
besides; they are quite different. yea i based the ship off the R-Type 3 one -R-Type 2 being one of my best and most played games ever- in its basic shape, but look at mine. much less details, outline, different underneath/engine, even different proportions. R-Type 3's is wider (when flying up/down) and shorter.
i knew i would get this kind of reply which is why i went offline and played a bit on Metroid Prime 2.
here we go again; TOR was always my own version of R-Type, originally Titan Exodus was a fangame just with different levels and graphics. and TOR is just TE but cooked a little longer. pity the gameplay is more like UN Squadron/Area 88 now... ho hum.

I didn't like your stuff at all when you first started out, but this is showing some promise. Keep it up."

And Jay, a couple of ripped graphics or not, ToR was beautiful. Artistically, you are rediculously talented -- just need to make those games a little easier so I can see the sprites beyond the first 45 seconds of gameplay.
Come on, I know my Hand Game isn't the greateast game, but without being big-headed there's no way it's worse than State of Crisis, Punch It, Gangsta, Roll Your Mother IC, etc.
I liked the hand game... although I wanted more animation. He didn't move when he got stabbed in the hand. He should of ran around the room screaming and yelling out all sorts of bad words.
Jay, you're fucking pathetic. We're all perfectly capable of spotting ripped graphics. And you change your goddamned story all the time (anyone who doesn't believe me check out the old thread on CI, he goes from "they're completely original" to "someone else drew them" to "I drew it while watching someone play R-Type" to fuck knows what else).
I find it entertaining that Kirby Smith made a comment about AS Filipowski's game and then it just so happens that Kirby is listed as his most annoying member only a few posts later. Seriously dude, learn to take critisism. It's not like he's making an attack against you personally, just saying his opinion on a game you made. He didn't even mention that you made it.
X_sheep: thank you and im taking steps to assure i dont get accused of anything else in the future whenever i do some graphics that look similar to something else i turn the DV cam on. sad i know but its just the way people are going like putting up health warnings on garden walls that say "attention burglars: breaking in may cause physical damage"
all i know is i didnt at any point use copy/paste/printscreen when making the graphics. and the people who were there playing my cube whilst i was working on TOR say the same too. ill have to make a video, especially when one of them is a catholic who would rather spend her afterlife in hell than lie.

Jamesbuc, Punch-It didn't have any playabilty, <smug> or win GOTW </smug> and The Hand Game was actually a game, it's just everyone chose to mutilate their hands instead of trying to win.

I think it is pretty bloody clear that the TOR ship is not ripped. It has clearly been based off the ship from R-Type, but the proportions are very different.

If the grammar and puncuation is bad excuse me I'm not feeling too well and can't be arsed to correct it. Woe is me.
Teapot: The engine pod on the ship is a pixel-perfect duplicate of the R-type one, just recoloured. And that's the most complex part of the sprite. Suspend one with transparency over the other in PS or PSP and you'll see what I mean. Admittedly the rest of the ship is slightly different, but not to a degree that couldn't be achieved by selection and stretching or drawing in a handful of pixels.
I can see what Jay did though Radix, he totally redrew the sprite, making the changes he wanted, I doubt that he ripped it (if you look at the quality of the other sprites). I've started a game and I based the drawing style off some of those titan sprites (the window sections in particular are very similar), so I'm expecting a lot of shit, even though they aren't ripped (the ship designs are totally different as well).
You aren't going to get that many pixels to fall in those exact points in a redraw. It doesn't happen. Even the shading is identical, just a different colour (although there's one less shade as I recall).
That's right. It's exactly the same. That's why we call it a sprite rip. The profile has been redrawn slightly but it's very clearly an edited version of the R-Type 3 ship.
