I pronounce it Kir-See, but you know, 1 question... unless you know people from DC personally or over the phone, or have nothing else to talk about, who mentions anyones name from DC vocally anyway? I mean seriously, is anyone here that out of idea's to talk about? Or do you just talk to yourself.
Sir-Kee. I remember asking him a while ago, that's how he pronounces it.
"Say you're hanging from a huge cliff at the top of mt. everest and a guy comes along and says he'll save you, and proceeds to throw religious pamphlets at you while simultaniously giving a sermon." - Dustin G
Uh... wow. I never came up with the name of Circy (I pronounce it "Sir-Key", but I don't really care how everyone else does ) - the klikker who made the Biinary games in Natomic (Spyda) came up with the name after my newbie days as Circlesoft. Everyone else, yes, they jumped on the bandwagon and copied him... so the name stuck
I would have thought it'd been pretty obvious it was Sir-Kee. I mean, the name Circy is based off his old group name "Circle Soft." So if you pronounce Circle, "Sir-Sal" than you are a complete idiot.
yeah but that's if you knew it was based off of circle soft, I however was completely oblivious to the fact of circle soft's existance and thought it was either based on:
Chris Street
or
Circus
So I think a mis-pronunciation is acceptable
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Kir Kee i guess.
The funny thing is that in greek kir kee is similar to Kirky;
the name of the witch who turned Odysseus' crew into pigs in
the Odissia of Homer!!!!!
@NastyMan: Bulgary? Where's that? Is it quite close to Romany and Albany?
@Anyone Else: It's frigginly obvious that it's pronounced Circy. Have you ever come across a word beginning with "Circ" that was pronounced "Surs"? That's an open challenge by the way to anyone sad enough to prove me wrong.
@Nuklear: It wouldn't put it past you that you pronounced your name "Noo-ki-ler", never mind "Noo-klea-er".
"That's an open challenge by the way to anyone sad enough to prove me wrong."
hey guess what, fuck-hat? its the letter AFTER the C that determines the sound of the C, and because theres a Y, its pronounced "sir see" that is grammatically correct way the word is pronounced. the ONLY reason people pronounce it "sir kee" is because they took the begining sound of "circle" and just put an "ee" sound on the end of it as an attempt to sound cute.
Korrect. Phoenetically it is sir-see, so long as we're speaking English. Etymologically it's sir-kee, but only if you're familiar with the Story of Circy. since it's not a real word anyway, neither is incorrect. But I maintain that sir-see sounds better and is technically more proper.
I think that one's pronunciation of 'Circy' may somehow relate to one's opinion of the man(?). Yes, phonatically it is 'sir-see', but having two 'c's in a word that both use the 's' sound doth sound silly (like cecil or ceciel). And thus one has the choice of kir-see of sir-kee. Kir-see sounds incredibly girly, so if that's what you think of circs, then that's his name. For me it's Sir-kee, because he showed me his willy.
I agree, his knighting would, scientifically, cause the end of the world. It is interesting to examine that, if said knighting occured, whilst one may believe the event simply to be a sign of social decline, it is infact not so. Chris Street is just a victim of circumstance (that's sir-kum-stans, by the way), a man who's knighting would cause, and not be caused by, the apocalypse.

Circy = Sir-key.
Always has been, always will be. Phonetically, etymologically and physically.
Circle = Sir-kel.
Circumsize = Sir-Kum-Size (also the name of a porn star).
Circumflex = Sir-Kum-Flex.
guess what letter is at the end of those words you gave with a hard C sound? a fucking U, circY has a fucking Y at the end of it. quit being a dumbshit. phoenically circy is pronounced "sir see" the ONLY reason its pronounced "sir key" is because of the history behind it. now quit being a fuck and start listening to reason
example: CYan, CYber, CYprus, CYlinder. and if you STILL dont believe me, then howabout the word farce? does it sound like "far keh" to you? and if you say "but chicken, sir, thats an e at the end, not a y." then suck on this: farcy. its pronounced the same way, "far see"
problem solved, phoenically circy=sir see. so shut the fuck up
Aah, but notice all those words you said begin with Cy, not end with it.
The way you split up a nickname with a 'y' on the end is by taking the first part, then ending it in an 'i' sound.
Matty, Charly, Bobby, Andy, Tommy, Ronny, Barry, Gary (it's not Gair-i, it's Gar-i), Jenny, Polly, Danny... Circy.
And since all the words I know that begin with "Circ" are pronounced "Surk", then so the name that begins with Circ is pronounced "Surk" also.
Also, your argument that the word farce isn't pronounced "far-keh" almost backs up my point. If it was spelt "farc", it would be pronounced "fark". If "farc" was someone's name, and you wanted to call them a nickname, you would call him "farcy" pronounced "far-ki". Your argument of the word "farcy" doesn't apply here since it is a) not somebody's name, and b) a was originally spelt "farsi" anyway.
Also, I'd appreciate it if you didn't call me a a fuck and a dumbshit.
And what's this word "phoenically" you keep going on about???
I don't know if this has already been written, but individual accents do count toward how words are pronounced, although there probably IS a proper way to prounounce words,
