I'm thinking of making a kliking sim, just for fun. I wrote the details several times, and every time my comp crashed . So, long story short, what klik sites do you guys hang out in? How were you guys like as newbies? And what kind of ideas might you guys have?

I wanna make it something kinda graphical. With actual screenshots of MMF, the DC, MS Word and stuff. But if anyone's got some extra ideas, let me know. Sorry, I'd write more details, but I've already spent the past half hour trying to.

Besides Daily Click, I (used to) hang out on Click Island and Klik Forever.

As a n00b, I finished one crappy game after the other, usually finishing about 4 games a week

I hang out at TDC and used to hang out at Clickteam's forums.

Back in my newbie days, I used to start a game then get an idea for another game and start on that, thus abandoning the other games. Now I've got a ton of unclompleted games. I liked to look at the example files that came with TGF and study things that were pretty advanced at my present state like inertia and platform movement. After learning everything I could from example files and creating a few minigames I've never released based on what I've learned along the way, I started trying to make a few games with custom platform movements. The movements turned out to be crap and I constantly had problems with the players going through the floor after jumping. I came up with a crude antisink engine, but it still sucked. So I looked at Zeb's source code to see how they did it. While I was looking, I also took a glance at how some other stuff in it worked like enemy AI, ledge gripping, etc. I didn't quite get how Zeb's antisink engine worked and I continued looking for help on the Clickteam forums where there were several custom platform movements posted. Some of them required the fastloop extension, so I found an extension site and downloaded all the useful extensions there. I then learned how to use fastloop to make a custom platform movement. It was around this time that I finished Grim's Challenge 1st edition and Sweet Legends(which got a lot of attention even though my graphics sucked). I still liked to experiment a lot and came up with many many tutorial files including a crude Star Fox engine, letter by letter text, a custom 360 degree movement with working wall bounces, and several special effects examples. I eventually came across trigonometry more and more often in the more advanced tutorials I've seen. I started researching how that worked by playing around with the example files a bit and learned how it works pretty much on my own. After that I started using trig in practically everything I make. Around this time, I arranged with the principal of my school and my technology teacher to allow me to teach an exploratory class in the mornings about using TGF to make games. I then noticed how stupid some people were about using TGF. For example, while a few of the students I taught thaught that to make a ball bounce, you have to make a new condition that asks if the ball is bouncing. Ultimately, I gave up on the hoodlums who weren't smart enough to use TGF and let them waste their time playing Zeb while I taught the students who actually were smart. It was around this time that I finished Wizard Wars. My graphics were terrible and for outlines I only used 2 colors darker than the main fill colors. I began looking at other peoples' graphics styles and realized why my graphics looked bad: The outlines needed to be darker. I also made improvements with shading, animesque styles, etc. I guess that was when my newbie days were kinda over.

I've only ever looked at TDC, I look at other communities but I like here the best. We have many articles and the boards are interesting. I did however used to look at darksungames.com and faind.com, I thought they had really cool games and they still do.

As a noob... I didn't do much.

I drop by TDC and CT forums every now and then, purely out of habit, I hardly do any clicking any more.

Most n00bs want to achieve greatness and become the knowledgable, respected clicker who everyone knows and the one who makes something new and amazing nobody's ever done before. (But I've been there, its overrated, hehe)

The Daily Click and Klik-Me. I used to visit Planet Klik and Total Klik when they were alive, but they're not anymore.
And as a newbie, I admired Virtually Real (back when they were still active). Newbies can easily become blind fans to large klik groups, like Natomic/FAInd/etc.

I only go here, Klik me and sometimes to clickers united too. I do visit www.yolkfolk.com forums however thats not exactly click.
As a noobie i simply churned out game after game whilst improving with each one until i get to now where my games seem ok until i get bored with them.

I dont really see how a kliking sim would work though.

I go sometimes to Klik-me and Clickteam just out of spite. Other than TDC those are the only ones I visit.

As a newbie I spent all of my time creating fan games. I remember looking at hundreds of KNP fan games (Yoshi Combat, Mario Alpha...) to learn new stuff. I started reading articles and found out fan games are generally crap, so I stopped after that. Now I just sit around working on engines, because I can't draw...

I've been hanging out at Klik-Me & Click-Island previously, but nowadays I'm only here at TDC.

How I was like as a newbie? I think there always will be some people that will see me as a newbie. But okey, I'll tell you about the time back then, when I thought I was a complete n00b.

I always wanted to be well-known by the TDC-people. My rubbish English was even more terrible. I had loads of people that I looked up to. I never managed to release games. The few times I actually managed to, it was either a pong game or a game that I've taken from someone addressing it in my name.
Yikes, I hated myself back then.

But as I said, I think I always will be some sort of a newbie for some of you.

im a noob, and i have no problem saying it. but im not the noob i once was, i have been reading and printing off the articles and reading them over and over till they actually sink in (and for me that can take a while) im always sitting here at the DC looking at other peoples work and thinking to myself "i wish i was that good" but i know with time and patience i will be.
Im finding that downloading the great games available here and the really poor ones can help greatly. The great ones show me what to reach for and the crap ones show me the DONT'S of game making.

As for the sim game, if you class yourself as a noob then that is gonna be way out of reach, its gonna require some serious AI!

...Yay! Yeah, im a noob, lol, you can tell from all the dumb lols i always have. But yeah, i remember like a year ago(i know i havent released any games yet, i need a website!!!)or 2 years ago, i used to only make events for my games with the "step-through-editor", yuck! Then i realized how much more easier it is to just use event editor, but whatever. So i started making lots of games, ALOT i didnt finish, but nowadays im getting to that. I just play around with TGF(yes, no MMF yet..) and slowly learn new things, of course, going to websites like TDC and Faind and downloading games and reading articles and help-posts always helps and encourages me to do better. Snerlin definitely seems(to me) to have come a looong way, lol, he's so much better now, and awesome graphics, you all are. But yeah, im still a noob, learning stuff, wondering whether or not i should "waste" my time on TGF or MMF since if i really wanna make games for my future, i should do like c++ or something, okay, im done.

I'm definatly still a noob to this site, although I've released a few decent games. However, I've worked with click products for more than two years. Amazingly, during that time I never thought of going online to find a click community... I basically taught myself the stuff I know. I only visit the DC.

One interesting thing I've realized is that instead of making games sometimes I'm visiting this site instead.

Hmm... I used to be a Blackeye Software hardcore fan back in the old days. That is, till I realised that their focus on detail was the opposite of style of spending as little time as possible on detail.

Ah, I forgot about the step-through editor. I used to use that for a while, till I discovered that all the empty events got annoying .

Lol, yeah, that step-through editor really did suck, but i need to start releasing games now. I "released" one lately. I said "released" in quotations because its NOT ON THIS WEBSITE YET!!!!!111222twotwotwotwo, lol, its making me semi-mad, and semi-confused, so im therefore mused, lol.

I never used the step through editor. I learned how to use TGF using the event editor with a book called "Awesome Game Creation: No Programming Required"

A long time ago I played a crappy southpark game and at the end it said made with Klik N Play. So I downloaded the school version and started making really crappy pong games, or other games that I planned to be so sweet but either myself or KNP was too limited to pull off. I've probably abandoned close to 70 games with KNP, and maybe 30 with TGF, each with elements in the engine that I still use in my engines today (albiet a bit better). I left TDC a long time ago but it was the only site I ever visited, and still is. Then one day I got back into TGF and realized MMF's so much better and got that. I usually just make applications that suit my needs at that time and never release them but also still make games, I'm still a noob and I have lots to learn. I really like making physics engines, and I have several laying around collecting dust waiting for me to incorporate it into something. Need to learn to draw though.

Most of you probably have no idea who I am. I'm not in it to be recognized. It would be nice though.

I miss my newbie days. Back then, I was considered one of the best KNP guys around (coz frankly, there wasn't much to master in KNP). My KNP FAQ made it to the top downloads in Click Cafe for 3 weeks in a row! Should've been just a week, but a bug let it stay for 3, so it was one of the few things that was there for a while

I had this really fun, but sloppy game by the name of Arena Fighters that got me quite a few fans and got another excellent KNP artist/programmer by the name of Jennifer de Asis AKA The Edge. Kinda miss her, didn't know how rare female klikers were back then. But if you don't believe me, just do a search for Freebor Games and I think there are a few sites that still link to that old site.

Though after the Click Cafe went down, nobody seemed to recognize me anymore. And due to my commercially high standards, I never seem to be able to finish a game. Guess I can't finish this klik sim game any time this year, at least not until I finish that game for the Evolution/Mutation contest. I'm not too excited bout MMF2, but the competition is based on a game I've always wanted to make.

Still doesn't hurt to get more ideas for this game, though. Any of you other guys have any newbie stories to share?
