I've noticed that gaming is a lot more boring these few years than it used to be. Back in the old days, there were games like X-Com: Terror from the Deep, the King's Quest series, Titans of Steel, the Quest for Glory series, Fallout 2, Conquest of Elysium, Betrayal at Krondor, just to name a few.
Now... the best game I can think of, commercially and freeware, is probably Darwinia. There are plenty games with lots of 'gameplay', like Empire Earth 2 and Stronghold 2, but somehow these games just aren't as fun as the original. I find myself FORCING myself to finish the game. With games like X-Com, I actually have to pry myself from the game.
Download.com charges now, so there's no more browsing through it's pages for decent games. Most freeware sites like GameHippo and HOTU notice that recent games are crap too and decided to support the indie game industry by giving excessively nice reviews to freeware/shareware games. In other words, these sites make garbage look like ambrosia.
So... anything for me to look forward to? If not, I'm just gonna have to start kliking again. I've already spent about 12 hours on MMF these two days, which is about my usual quota for 2 weeks.
The Click Community isn't dying. It's just that the game industry is getting better. Though the emphasis is on 'industry', not 'game'.

full throttle 2 and sam & max 2 are cancelled, probably because the point and click adventure games are turning less popular. I remember Grim Fandango, an excellent game from start to finish, but it didnt become that popular. I think Lucas Arts are afraid of making thoose kind of games now.
Its a shame that they cancelled the sam and max 2 and full throttle 2, I hope this doesn't mean that there won't be another monkey island game
I'm looking forward to the games in the next few months though, especially FEAR and The Elder Scrolls Oblivion (shaping up to be the ultimate single plaer rpg imo).
If your after something new and more original, you could check out 'Spore' by Will Wright or black and White 2.
Doom 3 was brilliant. I had to pry myself from that one.
It wasn't just a shooter- it had RPG elements to it that made it more interesting then the previous installments.
And I'm ashamed of this one, but I have always like the Harry Potter games even though they're easy and short. I still can't figure out what I like about them.
Fine Garbage since 2003.
