Facts.
If I were to create a poll on how many of you plan on creating an MMORPG I'm sure that 99% of you would say yes.

My point?
I haven't seen a single mmorpg produced from this community that has been highly successful and I think it’s about time we showed the world we're not just the geeky guys that will never produce something spectacular like runescape.

The Answer?
Although it would be difficult to orchestrate I sure the best idea would be for a large proportion of the Daily Click community to offer their services and produce a single mmorpg that everyone can say they played a part in making. Because there would be so many talented and creative people making the game it wouldn’t feel like hours of boring coding, or drawing and painting images. Take for instance the people that made the popular phpBB2. Those guys lived in all across the world and had jobs, families, basically lives other then authoring.

Where do we start?

First things first
Everyone has a talent for something here, even if they are just starting out it won’t be long until they can give helpful input into the game, whether it be testing, suggesting, or actually developing its all progress. So we would have to work out our own specialisation and try to organise teams.

Secondly
IF we were to go ahead and manage to get everyone involved, interested and paying attention I don’t want to be the guy who suggests that people do this and that. I think planning is the most important thing, and we should all do that together. Working from the ground up we form the basis of the game using the ideas of everyone and settling on the best in the opinion of everyone.

Structured something like;
- Artist
- Coders
Etc.

Thirdly
From there we could develop some form of recording system; this is where Daily Click will be useful. As this is a community already using the features like the forum will enable us to keep track of progress and communicate easily.

But Wait.
Okay, I understand that many of you have formed your own development teams and are probably in the middle of some amazingly long projects that you barely find the time as it is to complete. (mouthful). But please hear me out, It would, without a doubt be a more enjoyable experience for us all to develop a game around a large community of co-workers. Imagine all the input, and there is always someone there to ask for help. Although, I can respect if you just really want to finish off the latest of your developments.

Synapsis.
We can do it, if we are determined, dedicated, and disciplined enough we can so the world what we’re capable of doing using our own self taught skills.

I leave it with you to decide. If you are interested (which I hope many of you will be) please just give a quick post outlining any ideas, suggestions, or maybe what skills you have.

Thanks for reading.

Hmm, I like MMO games, of any type. Of course, as Aggggge said, The Daily Click Game will be an MMO game. If it fails, I like your idea. I am pretty good at coding, I am a good leader, and i'm organised, so I think I could help.

I've actually been designing an MMO for some time now, but didnt release information about it till just a few days ago. It doesnt have anything to do with DailyClick in general, but most of its attention will be aimed at the click community, so yeah.

Online games are rare in the community anyway, the most popular would be action games and how mahy do you know of? not a lot, The only way to make a game that will be 100% popular with all people around here is to make it for the community.
Thats already been started but it's on hold for now if i'm up to date with the info.

I'd probably say don't bothere if you asked the question.

Hi guys,

Sorry for posting a post about an idea someone has already had. Although it just shows that its a good idea. I am all for the DC-Game, and it wouldn't take long before we had a platform to work from. I myself am going to work on a foundation of a game that if wanted could be used as the first engine for the DC-Game.

It will be:-

- basic 8 directional movement.
- Contain 3 levels.
- Intro Screen
- Log In Screen
- Game Screen
- 5 Images to choose from (These will be coloured boxes)
- Chat
- The old above head chat
- Chat logging

I don't want to work on the graphics as I feel this would make a 30 minute job into a week job. This is a very basic engine although I will require help with Protocol Communication and Database Connections. If anyone can help make this extreamly simple idea I'm sure a lot more people will be interested.

Thanks,
Sean.

MMORPGs are 'simple' as you put it. But for startes I recommend you don't use a database on the web for storing your user's files and such. It's probably better to have a client\server program running, where you run a server program on your PC or another PC 24/7.

I'm fairly sure it wouldn't be anywhere near that percentage. Sure, it'd be neat, but I think we all know it's a lot of work for something that may only be popular for a week.

Okay, although I respect all of your opinions, whether negative or positive the negative ones aren't required. All the negative opinions will just make me think I am wasting my time, yet I bet if you started seeing a world develop before your eyes over time I think you would change your own opinion and either just play or help make the game.

I've made a start and have some development notes I have made, I will be making a post of these and I am redesigning my old website as a development site. This will be more basic then the game itself as I dont want to spend time making things look pretty I'd rather it just do what it needs.

I've spoken to my cousin and fellow designer Kyza about this new project and he has agreed its about time we all pulled our fingers out and get the huge globe of a ball rolling and producing something epic.

If you want to help out, e-mail me or add me on msn, ezence@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks for the support, and sorry if I have offended anyone thats giving negative opinions, its just we dont need it nor want it.
Thanks!
Sean
