This is a boss I was working on when I was bored & really didnt have much else to do. It used to play poorly, but after getting a new PC, I found it played alot better & decided to tweak it up some. Anyway, heres the link.

The objective of the boss is not to go for the enemy, but to destroy his power source.
SPOILER ALERT
To defeat the boss, you need to hit each emerald. This will release the Master Emerald, which you then hit to deal 1 damage to Chaos. Easy? I think not. Each time you do this, Chaos gets stronger, faster, and smarter. Good luck.
SPOILER END
Anyway, tell me what you think. Please note how ever that none of these sprites are infact mine, I do not take credit in actually making the sprites, but I do take credit for putting them together from sprite sheets. The engine & idea is all originally mine in addition. Thankyou.
Wow,I think its really good. Very boss-like stage, when he starts doing other things to try and distract you! Can tell its a good engine and im no coder!
The emerald in the middle cant be gotten, so I made it flash white when all the other emeralds are hit. Its like a little alert. Near the end, what you need to do is try to get as many emeralds as possible, then you need to get the ones he touches when he's either shooting the bubbles, or at the other side of the level. You can also land on him, which will spark out 3 rings, & leave him battered for a few seconds. It also changes his direction, which will keep him away from the emeralds you already hit. (The emeralds dont reset themselfs, Chaos hits them & resets them, so keep him away from the emeralds & you'll be fine.)
Another great tip is to create a pattern out of the level. The pattern would match somewhat of side ways figure 8. If you can do that, then you'll get the first 3 hits no problem. The last couple are a little more difficult. Given practice, the boss will be cake after a while.
yeah, i beat this on my first try but it was really fun and ingenious though. sonic could do with a speed tweak; i know sonic runs faster over a certain period of time but his initial speed is too slow. that slow initial speed made it more of an annoyance than a challenge.
Thanks for the comments so far, any more would be highly appreciated. The more I can learn how to improve this, the better I can make non-fangame bosses in the future. I just decided to use a Sonic engine to start out with. Any ideas?
