So the "romour" about games only working on the system it plays on first is untrue? Atleast now it is? Nice.. I remember that was a big fear when I heard that at E3/05
A lot of the bad things being said about sony are untrue. Now whether or not they deserve to have these rumours spread about them is something different altogether.
I have a ps2 and there are some great games on it, but sony's head has swelled to enormous proportions since then and they seem to be shoving a stick up their follower's asses because they can. While many of those "sony fanboys" probably deserve it for being morons, there are a lot of people who truly like the games that are released for sony's consoles, and are getting slapped in the face with this rediculous price tag due to the bluray being shoved down their throats. The idiots will try to justify it because they don't realize they're being used, but the other people (me) who were planning on getting a PS3 are losing faith here. I don't have $500 right now, I don't want bluray, and in 5 years when the next generation is nearing, the PS3 is going to be sitting there with a price tag of at least $200. No thanks.
The fact that sony even bothered to create this technology is a bad idea, what the heck is wrong with using dvds with this current generation? now they're going to charge us way more than they needed to.
anyway this generation is going to be more of the same with more polygons and flashier graphics. Somewhat like the jump from 32/64 to 128bit.
Wow! Is Too Human still in production? I remember when that was announced as a GC launch game. Weird. Infact, a lot of the originally announced GC games never saw the light of day: Picasso, that one with a bunch of girls set in Athens, Meowth's Party...
Thanks for replying guys, all your posts are quite eye opening. Have you heard that Wii wont support HDTV? That suits me fine, as I dont have/want one. As for the future of sprites, I guess as long as people keep making stuff on MMF then sprites will never die. Of course, when someone comes up with MMF5 or something that makes 3d games really easy to make... then I might go for the 3D. But, there is something special about spritework... even if it is out of date
I agree that there has not been anything quite as special as N64/PS1... those consoles really brought us out of the sprites
Sprites and 2d games are only out of date when nobody wants to play them anymore, which doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. Look at the Castlevania franchise. Somebody tell me they like the 3d games better than their 2d ones. You could almost make the same argument for Metroid, but Prime was pretty good.
