Where do you get inspiration for your games?

I usually get them from listening to video game music, or by playing really good games I fancy.

Music and the Commodore Amiga.

That line in Chilli Peppers - 'Don't Forget me' that goes something about "snow falling up from underneath your feet" inspired the particle effects in the first Satan Sam. There's more but I forget.
And Turrican and other random Amiga games pretty much influence my music, art and games. aye!

Everyone knows where I get it from. Apogee Software.

I was born ten years too late, I'm sure of it.

I tend to get a good deal of half baked idea's when I'm taking a shit, oddly enough. However, the majority of my earlier games were just idea's that popped in my head. At this rate, all my idea's feel half baked because my standards are so high.

When someone tells me my work is getting better and better, therefore I continue. Yet rest assured, I only do graphics so I also get team motivation when creating a game which is pretty inspiring.

Lol i get inspiration mostly from other games and/or klik-games. Usually its like if i see a cool game concept and i think, hey i can make a better game than that. But the truth is that i cant.
So lol when i realise that, i abandon them.
And sometimes i also make crap games when bored (like Prask).

All manner of NES games inspire me, as well as seeing other games made by other non-professionals. Especially those. It'll give you the "hey look a regular Joe can make a cool game- maybe I can too!" sorta' feeling. Especially if it's done using software that you also own. It's like letting someone play your guitar and they blow you away on it. You're in awe, yes, but you are also a bit of "WOW! My guitar just did all that? I can too!"

Schwarzenegger movies.

And as clickteam said "Nothing beats the feeling you get when you complete your first game and other people play it."

Haha! I get alot of inspiration also while exercising, jogging, at the beach... Also same as Broomie, compliments and such makes me also keep on going. You are really good Broomie actually. I'd like to see if me and you someday joined forces to make a super click game, off course if we got some real good coders

I think that I mostly got inspiration from videogames but I have never thought about it, there are always more games I want to do than I can finish

Music is a big one for me; I'm exclusively listening to Disturbed and Gravity Kills whilst working on Core.

Strangely enough, I've been listening to Sinatra while working on my choplifter-ish game. I don't know why.

MSD2 is inspired by a little bit of Sonic, a dash of Mario, a sprinkling of James Pond: Robocod, blended together with a dousing of my own imagination.

A deadly and dangerous yet dreadfully delightful ... mix

Inspiration for me is from other games that are too hard to replicate, or TV. It's not incredibly difficult to come up with Platfomer/RPG storylines really. Just grab yourself a bad guy with a bad name and you're half way there! Providing its of good quality etc.. and that you avoid using the names Dr Robotnick and Bowser...
