Have they fixed the awful typing bug yet? For some weird reason my IE does not let me log in to Myspace and Facebook (lol because they're my life, innit) so I use Safari, but Im sick of it entering wwww.myspace.com or faceebook.com

Also Safari crashes for me when on myspace

Guess it's time to download firefox

Safari on Windows is a bit of a mixed bag. It lacks the cool-as-hell OSX features like on the fly spell checking and a warning if you've entered text on a page and attempt to close the window. Heh, they've even released a much needed security update for the Windows version since there's so many security holes in the core OS . But the expanding tabs, resizable text input bits, that beautiful search system, better predictable URL input, Autofill and the speed keep it on my system.

They were right about speed though. It's noticeably faster than IE6 or 7, even faster than Firefox on my Core2Duo. Really does fly. Just hope the Windows version gets OSX versions features sometime soon.

Way I see it Firefox has all the features, Safari gets you there quicker and IE is just dangerous. And Opera is terrible and slow.

I tried Safari for the first time when I get my 2.4Ghz C2D Mac Book Pro last week (had to brag). It seems perfectly functional, but Firefox still gets my vote because of all the add-ons and seemingly better compatibility with some of the sites I frequent.

Opera is pure shite. It's slow, annoying, and it doesn't seem to render anything right.

IE7 is a ticking bomb, and I hate the way it says "BEHOLD MY TABS! SUPER NEW INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY!" every time you open a new tab, when it's like the last major browser to implement tabs. Jeez!

Ppfftshwhat? Opera renders perfectly for me, and it's really fast. When was the last time you tried it?

The version before the latest one was better though; this newest one has a few bugs.

Unless you mean opera for mac. That is a hideous piece of crap.

Opera is completely W3 standards compliant, so it should render web pages the best. It's extendable, was the first to have tabs, and um, that's all I know.

I still like Firefox more. Probably because it has a bigger user base and therefor more extensions & support.

Yeah, use firefox.
Safari seems ok, but developers only really build sites for IE and FF right now, and Safari appears different in some aspects. Other bad things too, at least in the windows version.

The safari beta is fast but too buggy for me. The mac version didn't go to site right and crashed a lot. The windows one worked fine at school, and on my Windows.

Firefox is the best.
Opera is nice too and also a W3 standard browser.
I use it on my Wii and it's VERY good and view sites perfectly right. (Unless the developer wrote it for IE and then changed to code to work also in Firefox instead of JUST making a valid code that works for everyone)
Safari is also standard, but it's only good for Mac.
On Windows it just looks awful.
IE is non-standard (Unless you call Microsoft's HTML a standard) and insecure.
IE6 is just a spyware magnet (major features missing) and IE7 is a ripoff.

Firefox is perfect. It has pretty much all the useful features that Safari has. IE is just crap.

If I recall correctly, Safari is the only browser that actually renders everything correctly.
I think Opera is really annoying. I'm not saying it's a bad browser, but I just can't work with it efficiently.

And what I hate is that people keep complaining about how Safari on Windows sucks. It's still in beta, fools And I see that everywhere, not only in forums with users complaining, but everywhere on the news on the internet. "Safari beta has bugs", oh no how suprising. Why do they take down Safari so much? It doesn't make sense!

"And what I hate is that people keep complaining about how Safari on Windows sucks. It's still in beta, fools"

If they coded it right from the beginning, they could have ported it easily and not have a huge lack of features in the Windows version. Methinks.

Safari now downloads with apple update So if you are updating itunes/quicktime and you dont click the checkbox to not get it... you get it.

It's a bit of a pain because it doesn't render the same as IE and firefox More hacks I suppose

I hate apple 'update', I intentionally downloaded Quicktime without iTunes and it pops up every day trying to force me to download iTunes. I'll probably just delete quicktime if it keeps doing it, it's shit anyway.

Davince - they did port it over. They even ported over some of the Core technology in OSX. It just doesn't have the same underlying features in OSX like spellchecker, plus the direct port showed some vulnerabilities in Windows too. They should have actually spent time in getting it close to the OSX version. I suppose that's what the finished product is for.

Ah, like that. They used OS-specific extras, making porting certain features not as easy.

Chances are they'll turn up soon enough. Doesn't Safari instal portions on Bonjour on a Windows system? You can see this in the file sizes of the installers. It's tiny in OSX because it relies on tech within the OS.

... Or is it iTunes with Bonjour

well i used safari on a mac for a short while- long enough to know what its like and switched to Fire Fox then (on a mac). overall i think they ported Safrai PERFECTLY!
Apple did an AWESOME job. Im a Mac user so i know what macs are like- they crash the whole time and NOTHING works fine at all. Now windows users can experience how much fun it is to use a mac program- its just like being on the mac: complete shit.
thx @ apple

I heard that the Mac OSes are not much better when it comes to stability. Just opinions, though.

Heard wrong. I'm running both systems and XP isn't as stable as OSX.

edit: though it is to be expected. OSX limits the hardware you can use (has to be OSX certified graphics cards, AFAIK only CoreSolo+ CPUs) so it's built solid for the hardware it can use.

Public beta. A public beta should be very nearly completely functional with only minor glitchage. This is rushed for the sake of hype.

I think the main reason I don't use Firefox is that I just like how customizable Opera is and it's speed.

Also, people saying "GET FIREFOX" is very annoying. That's making me definitly not get firefox.

well whats the point in having a stable system if the programs close itself all the time/crash the whole time. im talking about the CS2 programs on OSX- great the OS probably wont crash (which it does as well and its way worse than win crashing) but it will close all my programs without a warning- thx

So far, my MacBook Pro has been extremely stable. I've yet to have it lock up or have any programs mysteriously shut down. With Adobe's CS2 apps, it could be because they are not universal binaries (CS3 apps are). If you're running them on an Intel based Mac that could explain the instability.

Bibin, Personally I like both Opera and Firefox but I use Firefox on a daily basis. I also use Opera on my Wii (Wee!).
And I say "Get Firefox" only for people who haven't seen the light already and still use IE (and probably have many spywares).
I support the Web Standards and write my sites only by Valid HTML 4 and XHTML 1.1.
And if you notice, Neatwares Studio shows 3 banners for different kinds of browsers:
-Get Firefox for IE users (Because their browser suck )
-Fire up the fox for Firefox users (Site with plugins and skins for Firefox)
-Open Office for Opera/Netscape/Safari users (Because they already made their browser choise, and any non-IE browser is good.)
The final line - Both Opera and Firefox rules.

CS2 crashes? I've never had Photoshop crash on me (6, 7, CS1-3), OSX or XP. It's certainly one of the more stable apps I've seen. The only Apple developed app I've had crash on me is iMovie, which seems *extremely* buggy now. Nowt else has crashed. Ever. G4 or Core2Duo.

My Windows XP got very unstable when I installed the newest Catalyst video drivers
