Lets not turn this into "I HAVE THE BEST COUNTRY LOLZORZ" thread, the majority of countries nowadays are pretty shit in places, occasionally scattered with goodness.

Its the backdoor, shadowy approach. As long as the media doesn't pick it up, they can pass any sort of fucked up law they want.
That sort of thing would never work in the UK. It's not PC to be patriotic. In worst cases it's supposed to be offensive to immigrants to show affection for the country.
So thats one thing the UK loses at in my opinion. I'd much rather be patriotic. Even if there is rarely anything to get exited about the place nowadays.
Hmm the Olympics maybe. But then again we'll probably celebrate how many different nations represent our 'multicultural britain' rather than just saying... well nothing.
Freedom of speech is overrated. But in this case it's worrying. Now Americans have the same degree of freedom Malaysia has always had .
Last week, a group opposed several of the government's policies, marching in an illegal street rally then getting blasted with tear gas and water cannons. It wasn't a riot; just a demonstration. The government is discussing putting the leaders in jail for attempting to incite racial riots or so.
Pfft.. two-party system? We have lots of political parties but so far, since Malaysia's independence, only one party has ever won the elections.
Oh, and if you think your govt has a corrupt system, well... I was about to post about something that's happened in this country, but posting negative comments about the government in a blog or so can be considered slander and some people have been arrested for it. And I'm not even implying that the govt is corrupt or supresses the freedom of speech, because that's a jailable offense too. Any politicians who think I was implying such a thing is stupid
