Anyone else here play GH3? I'd love to kill someone here in some kind of online guitar fighting match. If you have it, what platform? I fear if anyone does have it, they'd be on another platform.
I play them on a PC, but not online because it lags on my slow comp (missing half a second makes all the difference) and dial-up. Stuck in the middle of the Hard songs. GH3 has to be one of the most addictive games ever. Even got me going back to practicing on my guitar
I think GH has to be the only game that's much, much, much better on any console rather than a computer

Ugh. I liked the first two Guitar Heroes, but Neversoft made this one really annoying. I'm nowhere near the prodigy level this game expects of me. I managed to beat the first two on expert, but I surrendered on the 8th set (Metallica and Slayer) on HARD, and the 7th set on expert. I'd really hate for GH3 to be someone's first introduction to the franchise with that sort of difficulty curve.
Does anyone else feel like most of the songs are more mind-numbingly repetitive to play than the other installments? Plus, the (boss) battle mode feels more like a contest of who can cheap the other into failing first with unbalanced attacks than a real duel of skill.
Yeah, it does suddenly get a bit impossible for most people with Before I Forget and Raining Blood. I've only actually beaten Raining Blood a couple of times, and it's a shit song too so it's not exactly making me WANT to five-star it.
Battle mode is fucking stupid, yeah, especially the one for the last boss. Your opponent gets the first powerup, and then uses it when you're about to get your first one. The powerup is chosen randomly, so you basically need to keep restarting until it gets a powerup that doesn't completely disable you and stop you from getting yours. If you don't restart, it'll keep getting powerups and disabling you when you're about to get yours. Luck != Gameplay. Luck != Fun. Luck != Fucking necessary in a game about dexterity and skill.
Once it introduced the 4th color I gave up. I am pretty good with 3 colors though.
Reminds me of stepmania, and I'm WAAAAY better at that game, infact I'm probably one of the best.

Wow, didn't even know it was online. I only ever play offline version.
Edit: What the hell is a "marvelous" it's only "perfect" on mine. Yeah wow, he's good. 13th place. I went through his records, I'm not saying he is better than me, but he might be. I've got perfect scores on max 300/unlimited and legend. if that means anything to you. although he is better at paranoia survivor max than I am.

Marvelous is above a perfect, requires better timing. He actually plays with a pad sometimes though, so some of those scores might be his pad ones.

My version of stepmania doesn't have marvelous, I'm sure it's the exact same timing.
With a dance pad I am no good, fingers only.

you can turn marvelous's on, unless you have a really really old version. And marvelous isn't the same as a perfect. If you get all perfects and marvelous, then you get an AAA, if you get all marvelous, you get an AAAA. Not many get AAAA's on even beginner songs.
Nice job on the boss songs though, AAA's aren't easy to get either.

How can "marvelous" be above freaking "PERFECT"? I mean, it makes no sense!
Nah, I just mentioned it because you push buttons in relationship to the on screen directions being matched to music. Coincidently GH3 does this exact same thing.

I don't know why you said that or who you're talking to but I'm sure you had a very good reason, so thanks.
Back on the topic I'm replying to a few weeks late...
Hey, I like GH3. I never played the previous 2 but I like this one. The difficulty curve is just fine, but like with real guitar, you need some practice (which is kinda against the point). I went from easy to hard in just a month. Slayer's song was pretty sucky on the easier difficulties though, the notes ran off tune. But I love Metallica's One on hard & expert; I think it's because I used to air-guitar most of it, except for the final solo (which I screw up in GH3 as well).
Oh, yeah, I don't like the boss battle modes either. The boss battles were good choices though. That first boss was probably the guitarist I hated the most, so I was kinda obsessed on beating him even though it took forever . But still, I loved the guitar battle against Slash and the final boss.

i still dont think ive beaten "One" on expert. the ending is too goddam chaotic. i can't play anything other than on expert tho. if all the notes arent there it just doesnt flow for me.
I can't beat One on hard or expert either, but I find it a bit amusing that I play it better 'by ear'. I dunno, I've been listening to it almost as long as I've been kliking. In fact that song was one of the first I downloaded (I bought the album so it's legal ) and the one I kept playing while kliking. So, it sounds pretty much what metal is supposed to sound like to me, lol.
Now Dragonfoce songs are chaotic. That game tempted me to buy the album, but turns out that half of the songs sound the same

dragonforce is not chaotic. its just uber crazy fast lol. its all repeat notes and scales. its just almost all 32nd notes. so goddam fast. and they ALL sound the same to me. i still listen to em tho.

That's where superpros add in imaginary notes to keep them flowing on beat and consistent.

Can't say that. I know two kids who play dragonforce on expert with no problem. They probably memorized all the songs, though.
