Castlevania 2 deserves a place on that list as well. It took me many years to appreciate the game; but I've come to learn the awesomeness that was that game. Same can be said of Zelda 2.
The Ducktales games were quite fun too.
The Die Hard game was impressive as well, but I really don't think anyone played that. I consider it to be a very early example of a sandbox game. That's more of a note than a suggestion for the list.
Final Fantasy deserves a place there too, even though I pretty much despise the main FF games.

I hate Castlevania 2. I dont know what they were thinking when they made that game.
Though I guess the problem with 2 is that it didn't really add that much. 3 added Rush and Protoman and the slide and had a storyline of sorts, though it was a bit too hard IMO.
Though really in many was it's a bit more of a classic since it introduced a lot of classic elements. It was probably the biggest "UPGRADE" of all the games.
Check out my Telekinesis'em'up Thread and the ALICE Machines -
I'm pretty sure this came out for all the systems but Micro Machines was good.

Im thinking about adding Zelda 2, but I could never get into that game. I guess Ill have to try it again, as well as Micro Machines, Kiwi Kraze, and Castlevania 2 will not be on this list.
Zelda 2 most definitely needs to be on the list. It's got this wonderful old-school evil about it which is impossible to find nowadays, and the last temple is simply a masterpiece.

Same here I think. I really can't get into it. Not that I hate the game itself (Zero Mission being my most played GBA game) but the graphics and music just doesn't have that magical charm that other NES games had.
There was no direction and everywhere looked the same in Metroid on the NES. I for some reason still fidn it possible to play though. And Zelda 2 is awesome. Shame I always get stuck half way through it.

I love fighting the knights in Zelda II. I've got the gold cartridge of that and its predecessor. I'm currently in the last palace and I have fought the big bad end boss, but OMG - the final palace is mind-numbingly huge!
