I've commenced work on a Platforming game up to the stage I'd like to partner up with someone who wants to make one of those larger scale klik games, someone who can both draw and make it as much their project as mine. Frankly, I'm not particular what kind of game it is, I'm just a code monkey. I figure it will be a Metroidvania genre of a game, with some of the neat mechanics I've already programmed. Check out the download for that.
Really, I'm more looking for someone whos willing to bunker down and churn out a full, epic game, than just the best artist out there. Its very easy to say 'lets make a great game', but it takes a ton of time and effort to do that. And I can make it happen, as far as coding & completion. Check out Gridquest; that was pretty epic scaled, and I somehow finished it But starting from scratch like this, I could use someone who has their own visions for the game. So anyone whos really interested, talk about it!
If anyone on the face of the planet made that in TGF, I'd eat both our hats. Thats just a left-over Icon from porting the engine to MMF2. Vector graphics are just too much of a hassle, and it was tough enough to find an image format that could rotate 640x640 at 50 FPS (256 color bitmaps, pew pew)
Well they *are* PNGs, but aren't they turned into bitmaps when MMF2 loads them into objects? At least the Overlays/Text Blitters/Background Images/etc. I had to go through and palette every PNG into a 256 color, default MMF2 palette for it to work. I'd assume they aren't staying PNG's if their palette gets skewed when loaded into MMF2
Well I'm very much interested in partnering up with someone, at any rate. Nows probably a good time in the dev cycle to figure out what the heck we're making
I'm a member for only two months now, & I've learned about MMF at the same time, but these two months are enough for me two know that I probably won't complete something alone before long. It's not the difficulty factor, since I've alway been great with maths and science, It's just that I always stay like 8 hours straight in front of the computer coding, then I don't feel like it for a week.
As for drawing, animating, minor musical talents and the Tons of Ideas, thats what got me comming here.
I have to say though, that this mario galaxy thing doesn't inspire me much.
In the next few day, I'll think about if I want to get engaged, and wich of the ideas that foats in my head for the last decade would be the best suited; that is if you are interrested of course.
You just need to know (and can maybe see it here) that my english isn't the best.
Also, if you feel the need to see some of my work, just ask me.
PixelThief, I'm your man. I've gotten an epic game planned out, and its more or less programmed and prototyped, but because of my lack of experience programming I always feel it could be so much more. (That and the code is an absolute mess)
I've even got music done for it already. And had a disc professionally made just to see how it would look.
The only thing is, my ultimate goal is when its finished to get my name out there and release the game commercially (Sell it from my website, or possibly find a publisher) and I absolutely need to retain the rights to my characters and graphics.
At this point, I've been working on this specific game off and on for about 3 years now, so theres been a large amount of thought put into it, and im dedicated.
Get back to me, and I'm sure we can work something out.
Well its always great to hear some ideas, but for the moment I believe I'm covered, we've got a very talented team to work both programming and graphics, and nothing but the limitations of MMF ahead of us. I'd love to see someone else's ideals become reality in games, but I think this would be a better one to start from scratch with, which is what we have decided to do.
