Want to get some DC points easily. Send me 20 DC points and pick a number between 0-1000 (send it to me via PM). I already picked the number. The person who is closest will get 90% of the DC points (the more people participate, the more you can win!). You can bet on more than once, but you have to pay 20 DC points per bet (don't bet on the same number twice, that's just silly). If more than 1 person try the same number the rewords will be split amongst both of you. I will close this and announce the winner tomorrow. If only one person participates, i will give you 40 DC points.
There is no fear of me stealing DC points here, because you could report it to an admin and he'll ban me.

do you have permission to run a casino on TDC territory? the TDC ninjas may confiscate all your points and give them to the Caretaker.

Gambling doesn't make you do bad things. All gambling is, is people giving up money in hopes that they'll win the money everyone else loses if they're lucky enough to get randomly picked.

Isn't that a bit contradictory? No but seriously, that's called stupid, not bad. And generally it's just that people who gamble also have character traits that make them do bad/stupid/rash things.
Gambling itself is not terrible, you can be responsible but as it has been proven again and again, it can become addictive for people and send them far enough to put themselves into major debt and take for granted their homes and families.
My only experience with gambling was when my we had out Christmas do at work when I worked in a cinema. It was in the casino that's attached to the leisure complex the cinema is in, the casino was also filled with dozens of sad eyed people religiously putting coins into slots. None of them seemed to be actually having fun and it was a sterling example of what I don't want to turn into when I'm older...

Poker nights can be fun. What we do 'ere is my friends I chip in say £5 ($ into a pot and play poker. Winner gets the lot and the runner up gets a drink. It's a fun thing for a hour or two, no one really loses that much money. If you win, you'll get about £30. ($50)
I'm not into gambling, or anything like that, in small doses/amounts it can be really fun, as it gives it an extra meaning to the game, but I have a strong limit on when to stop.
Gambling is about as dangerous as some of the minor drugs. I know a few families that were wrecked by gambling addicts. Loan sharks feed on gamblers. Sure, you can control yourself, but not everyone has that kind of self-control and it's just nasty when they gamble away the family fortune.
Well, when it's real money. Fake gambling is as dangerous as shooting fake Haitians

Aye true. I watched this really good tv program with Steve Coogan called Sunshine. Twas about gambling, very good. Nice to see the actor in a serious role. Not once I thought of him as Alan, excellent acting.
It's the same addiction people get whenever they lose at on a boss in a video game and they know they can beat it... so they just keep on trying, regardless of how pissed they get, or what they break when they start throwing shit around.
As with most things in life, it's good in moderation. I'm not into gambling as such, but i like betting on myself to beat people at things. I've won a few quid beating people at computer games before now, like my mate who kept betting me he'd beat me on Daytona arcade, and he kept losing and the bets kept going up as he wanted to win his money back. Or the idiot who bet me he'd beat me at Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, so i went out and bought the game, had 3 days practice and then took his money off him (think it was a tenner) - haha!
I'm not mean but i am competitive, and the money was nice!
It might be nice to have a slot machine on the site that uses DC points to play.
And BlackJack ... oh, and multiplayer Poker and other card games.
Then have all the points that everyone loses in the 'casino style' games (the odds are against you) displayed as "points lost to casino" as a warning that gambling is not only a sin, but also usually the opposite of profitable.
If you win a certain amount of points though, maybe a "Gambler" trophy could get awarded.
It'd certainly increase traffic to the site, but there would probably be alot of undesireables who would rather gamble than make and play real videogames.

Why would they come just to gamble away nothings when they can gamble real money on other sites?
Ricky said it. No risk of money loss, but still get to play. Some people (my dad is included among them) actually like to play gambling machines just for the sake of playing them without actually gambling any real money. I personally find slot machines and most card games boring and resort to playing them only if there is absolutely nothing else to do, but that's just my preference. The chance to win money would be appealing to me if I didn't already know that I'd just lose money instead, but if there's no chance to win anything, then why play something that I find boring otherwise? If a casino were put in here for DC points though, that would be good for people like me, cause we'd get the chance to win something that matters but not very much really (DC points) instead of risking money which matters alot and I have very little of.
Like I said though, there's the risk that people who like to play those games without the chance of winning anything that would benefit them (just for the sake of playing), would come to the DC Casino to play (and in doing so eat up bandwidth possibly), without ever actually contributing anything of value to the site.

But that's how you initially get the points is by contributing.

Usually the addiction of gambling is not because it's fun though, the addiction result is because at first they think they can hit big easily and win, after they keep losing they want to get back what they lost, in hopes of but not banking on, breaking even. Usually the addiction isn't as great when the value of the winnings are bupkis.
I don't think its a bad idea but at the same time I don't think adding actual gamble type games such as poker and slot machines is going to add any value to the site. Gambling points through the Arcade I think is a great idea. Fun! Cause you get to play decent fun games for points.
Gambling is basically just playing games for points, except that the games aren't really that fun and there's a high chance of losing money.
But money is worth as much as it's worth; you can gamble with anything from houses to toothpicks, if you like to gamble then it's really your choice as to what you gamble with and as far as I can tell, DC points are leaning significantly towards the worthless side of things .
I think most people on this site would gladly gamble with DC points, just for the sense of achievement it could bring: isn't that why we play games anyway?
Heh, someone should make a poker game when the arcade comes up

Surely half the adrenaline rush of gambling comes from risking something for potential gain? I think DC points would work well, because some people seem to care for them.

Lol I need to start playing the lotto 'ere. There is a trend that all first timers under or the age of 18 usually win...
Edit: We should have the Daily Click Lotto. And every Kilkcast or something Rikus could pull out random number balls. (every one puts in 50DC points to play) If no ones wins, it gets rolled over to the next episode. Something like that

That still gives it more value than nothing. Fake money that has no value other than sitting there looking pretty as a number, generally loses it's excitement relatively quickly. Simply adding the opportunity of a store with prize goals to accomplish, adds a lot more fun to it because it gives you a goal to try to accomplish, and in rare instances when people even care, a chance to show off. Gambling is fun, but it's not the raw gambling, it's generally the connections with it as well.
I was addicted to that slot machine that was in the KNP examples for a while back then.
