Thanks to Jon and OMC for the idea.
I plan on adding counters which will show you how many new comments have been posted on your downloads, and how many of your favourite projects have been updated since you last visited them (these were also suggested by Jon and OMC). It's a much bigger job to code those hence why I've started with the basics first
The links do nothing at the moment because I haven't finished coding the pages they link to yet. If you have any other suggestions for the sidebars feel free to post them here.

That is something I've wanted for... a long time!
You can log off any time you like, but you can't ever leave.
Sexy. However unless these aren't supposed to be links and are by accident, when you click on any of them it takes you to the page you're currently on. Even shows up as the current page you're on, in the status bar. Curious, I don't even think I could do that if I wanted to, much less by accident.
Anyway, might want to fix that. The new icons are very attractive though and the extra information is welcome with open arms in my opinion.

The pages that they are supposed to link to have not yet been completed - it was done intentionally
Including My Downloads? I assumed that would take you to your profile.
Also, what about making it so that the profile sidebar actually Welcomes us by our real name rather than the name we joined the site with? Anyone else ever have this strike them as a tad unusual? "Welcome SuperSonic3000!" How about "Welcome BrandonC" instead?
There is no other quick way of seeing whether your downloads have been accepted (other than going to the downloads page and checking). I think it generally makes it easier to check whether your download has been accepted. The counter that shows the number of downloads you have will eventually be removed once I code a counter for displaying new comments posted on your download pages.

A small task that can be done in a couple of seconds. It's like making a machine to chew my food for me.
Some people do like small tasks being made more simple and easier - if you don't like it then you can just pretend it isn't there
Surely the pending download thing would just be handy for admins to know if they've missed any games, all the user will do is send a pm or complain like usual anyway.
The feature was suggested because 2 downloads have been sitting in line without having the necessary reparations made to be accepted. Since the users apparently have forgotten to check to see whether they were approved or why they were not, this will remind them to look to see what needs changed.
The updates counter should now work - though only for your favourite projects at the moment. When a project has been updated you can click the link in your sidebar and you will be shown a list of your favourite projects that has been updated since you last visited them. Hope you like it, and if there are any bugs feel free to post them here.
The updates counter under the favourites area will track updates to your favourite projects and downloads.
In the next few days there will be an updates counter under the downloads area which will track new comments and reviews which have been submitted to your downloads.
Maybe we could set up some kind of option that allows people to hide stuff? This side bar could be getting a tad long for some people on lower resolutions. It's fine for me at 1440x900 but some people haven't accepted the glory of high definition yet.
The new comments counter is now functional and will show any new comments added to your downloads - just click the links to see which downloads have new comments or which downloads are still pending. Like before, please do report any bugs you find

I think maybe I'm the only one who knows how to use that favourite button sometimes.
Maybe there should be big bright blinking arrows all around it pointing to it and when the mouse scrolls over them it could play a voice saying "click this button if you like this download/project".
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
