I've been waiting for this game for what seems like forever. I normally wouldn't be so frustrated but I have a strong suspicion that it's only being delayed because they're adding DLC and nothing more. They announced it WAY too early in my opinion.
Do you read the official Nicalis blog? Lately they've spoken of the extensive translation and redrawing both being looked over by and consulted with Amaya-san, so that's probably a factor as well. They just submitted the online manual for the game to be looked over. http://nicalis.com/blog/

Thanks. I do read their blog but I tend to skim read the content because it's not very interesting. Some of the posts are quite interesting, but when they post a sprite comparison after no posts for 2 weeks it looks like that's all they've done. Obviously they don't have much to write about because they're only porting the game and not making it from scratch. In other words, reading their blog kind of makes me more frustrated
Mm, I don't own a Wii either. I think this game will be great but... I wouldn't buy a Wii specifically for this, especially since the PC version is freeware and will suffice, (even without the enhanced graphics/extra content etc..)
But by all means, if I did own a Wii I'd definately consider buying it.
Perhaps if they release a PC version of the Wiiware version (of the Original PC version ) then I'd consider buying that but it seems unlikely...
On a similiar note, here's a picture of me failing a speed run:
I don't think I'll get it. I've already played through CS twice and that's double as many times as I normally play through games. But yea, DLC... In a previously freeware platform game? Hmm.

I feel the same way. It doesn't matter how much they update the graphics or music, I'll still feel like I'm playing the same Cave Story game I already played. But on the other hand, if Cave Story were £20 I'd definitely have bought it, and I want to support the original creator. I just hate this era of DLC that we've been pushed into by developers.
"We’ve done our pre-submission and now it’s time for our final submission at the end of this month. If we pass–well you know the rest."
yay. I'm guessing we'll see it in mid to late October.
Also,
"Tiffany and I have also finalized what Downloadable Content will be available soon after release. That’ll be Time Attack (you can try your fastest you-know-where), Armored Mode (the enemies, not you) and for those of you who can do it (3HP anyone?)."
Well, there's no way I'll be PAYING for a time attack mode and the others. These features in games used to be free!
No Cave Story again this week. It's officially scheduled for October, which means next week or the week after. Unless Nintendo are going to *SHOCK* change the release date.
I remember reading in an interview that MS was going to bump the release of N+ and the only reason it was still released on the set date was that the developers had made a huge launch party the week before.
I also remember Sony bumping the release of the Titan pack for Unreal Tournament 3 several times.
- Ok, you must admit that was the most creative cussing this site have ever seen -

Maybe we'll see it this weekend. Unless Nintendo have some crappy fireworks games planned instead.
"We’ll have an update on Cave Story and its status next week. The game was resubmitted on Friday. Time to go play some La-Mulana on the Wii."
I wonder if Nicalis screwed something up? If next week's update is lacking any real information but instead full of "OMG Cave Story is nearly ready gyys!" then I'll assume so.
That's great. And honestly, I'd rather play the original Cave Story on a portable device too. When I get the Wii version I'll probably leave off the "improved" features.
I've heard from an anonymous source on the internet who has sketchy information and grand assumptions that it might be coming out on Monday! Get excited!

Okay.

OH MY GOODNESS IT'S NOT HERE!

Great. So instead of being free like the PC, the game will cost X amount and subsequent new maps/items for Y amount more. I don't think I'd touch this (not sure if they're talking about Cave Story or that La Mulana remake) until they sold a complete pack. Just grinds my gears to see devs go over their deadlines and don't add in DLC into the standard game.
There's no reason anymore why I should give Nicalis one ounce of my trust. I'll believe it when I'm playing it myself. European release coming soon, I hope?
In any case, it feels like delicious victory to see a company make a U-turn over DLC and end up including it with the game. There's no other company I'd rather see it happen to right now.
Thanks It's out in America and I hear they made quite a mess of the music/sounds and some translation, but it's a decent port. At least they didn't try to add motion controls! I'll buy it if they fix it up for the European release.
Yup, I got it day 1 and meant to post about it but I was busy playing it so I forgot. They did mess up the music. The new music is three times as loud as the sound effects and the old music is 1/2 the volume of the sound effects. The majority of the remixes don't keep the original feel at all and are missing instrumental tracks. So I just use the old music. It's all good fun, but Curly Brace mode is more like Quote mode with (very) little added dialogue and changes to acknowledge the fact that she is a girl. When you meet Quote, she talks for him, which is really odd.
