I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this is the official answer for the reason Sketchy gave. Remakes are good, old games shouldn't be entered. Even if it weren't so, you'd probably score lower for submitting an old game anyway!
(Though do please submit your old games too. )
Do we have a DC Point or Arcade credit (AC? ACDC! ) reward for submitting games? There should be one if there isn't!
It's probably best to keep the rule the same across the board. It's not unusual to have a competition mandate new entries. Though if everyone thinks the rule is unfair, (or that an exception should be made) then it should be changed!
I'm almost halfway done with my minigame It's called "Avalanche Ascent" and your objective is to see how high you can climb an icy mountain using your trusty ice picks! It's going great so far! Here are a few screenhots:
Thanks Rikus I worked on the game some more today. The stuff is more "randomized" now and the icicles work. Both the boulder and the icicle can be shattered by ice picks. Cracked ice will now make you skid down farther making you lose a bit of your height score. I also added powerups: +Ice Picks ; +Health ; Destroy (stuff on screen) ; Speed (faster climbing)
Of course
The compo entry needs to be a source file, so that it can be modified to make it suitable for the arcade.
It's up to you if you want to upload another version in the downloads section aswell.
Obviously I'm not an admin / competition organiser, but this is just common sense.
I have a question about music and sounds. You have to use the "built-in" music tab in the editor, but when it's converted to Flash, all of the music will be converted to .mp3's, right? You cant use other extensions like the Direct Show So what type of music file does MMF2 support, because the current ones I have wont work. Also, any suggestions for a music converter?
