Well, you are young. You were born when the 16 bit era was on it's last legs. I was born one year before the NES was released in the US, heh.
MMF gives you MUCH higher resolution, HWA gives you effects SNES didn't have and we can use advanced graphic tools they did not have back in the day...no disrespect but I really do think the SNES style is WAY overrated. I mean back then they tried to make things as realistic as possible, they didn't WANT it to look all pixelated and crappy.

You would rather play a N64 over a SNES? The SNES library is much more interesting and the games are much faster, more fluid, etc. The control scheme is arguably a lot better as well.
Snes has tons of greats like:
Link to the Past
Megaman X 1,2,3
Super Mario RPG
FF 4,6
Chrono Trigger
Secret of Mana
Secret of Evermore
Soul Blazer
Yoshi's Island
Star Fox
Terranigma
Breath of Fire 1,2
Turtles in Time
Lion King
Contra
Super Metroid
Castlevania
DKC 1,2,3
Illusion of Gaia
Killer Instinct
Lufia
Gradius
Knights of the Round
Desert Strike
etc.
None of the Nintedo-made 64 titles can hold a candle to their SNES counterparts IMO (starfox, mario, paper mario, yoshi's story [yuck], DK, Mario Kart,)
Sin and Punishment is probably the only reason I would have a N64 - I actually own several that I don't use -, given the Wii VC didn't exist and it wasn't an import. Oh and Bangai-O if it was released here, but we got the dreamcast version so its alright. I can't even begin to name even close to that many N64 games that I enjoy =/.
Megaman Legends
Sin and Punishment
Goemon
Paper Mario is somewhat okay
Star fox 64 is aite
uh . . .
thats about all I can muster.
To each his own I guess, but you should seriously try playing some more SNES/Genesis/NES/GB etc. Games. There are lots of good ones. . .
If you got a Commodore 64 I recommend picking up the Psytronik ( http://www.psytronik.net ) release Knight 'n' Grail if you haven't done so yet. It's a great Metroidvania game.
I cautiously (mainly due to lack of funds) started collecting retro consoles and games last year.
Stuff bought so far:
Master System and a bunch of games.
Megadrive and a few games.
Atari 2600 and a bunch of games (I don't think the Atari works).
N64.
Gameboy (original) and a few games.
Neo Geo Pocket and a few games.
Game Gear.
Probably a few things I've forgotten about but that covers the bulk of it.
