its really awful how the boss of such a company can say that. like if its so bad why didn't you study in the usa? also he is selling freaking burgers which isnt the healthiest food i can think of / wont help you to look "better" so who is he to judge?
btw im all for mcdonalds (he had a farm). everyone i know is a BK fan boy. cant even stand their fries. yes i DO like the salads at md. they are great and expensive as hell but oh well (and not really healthy haha) and the cakes at md are great, so take that BK.
I can't speak about your women but I can certainly say that your food is indeed terrible, but thats just part of the culture!
Personally, my petit choux would have me be a patissier in another, fatter, life
The possibility struck me that it might have been one of those ice-breaker terrible jokes that people do, like "These guys are terrible, you guys are awesome." I'm pretty sure things like that are done by fictional characters all the time. He was talking to a group of school students wasn't he? So he would have said it as a joke to make them feel awesome.
I haven't eaten at McDonalds for over 15 years - I asked for a jam doughnut, and they gave me apple instead . That would never have happened in Tim Hortons
Actually, the guy kind of has a point...
British food is pretty bad, and the fancier the restaurant, the worse it gets - they start doing really poncy French style cuisine, which just sucks - small helpings, too many vegetables, stuff that's only there to make it look pretty, etc...
A proper meal involves plenty of meat, accompanied by chips (fries), and that's about it. Pizza and Pasta are also quite yummy though, come to think of it.
As for women, well I think British women on average, *are* less attractive than women in a lot of other countries (although maybe not the USA, where the average woman is morbidly obese).
If you ask me, it's largely down to the fact that British women are increasingly trying to be either more like men ("lad-ette" culture) or more like plastic barbie dolls - neither of which is attractive.
That's probably why more men are going after cougars now - they're old, but at least they know how to act feminine...
Also, it's a fact that more British women have fat cankles

You always make such profound statements and generalise things as if its a fact instead of your opinion, as if you've travelled all over Britain and know what you're talking about. Its like me going to one place in Cornwall and saying the whole place is a crap hole. Im wondering if you actually ever leave your little fishing village?
"As for women, well I think British women on average, *are* less attractive than women in a lot of other countries (although maybe not the USA, where the average woman is morbidly obese)"
Not really. Travelling in USA Ill see around 10-15 truly obese people, including men and children, not just women. That's not a lot in comparison to the hundreds of slim/normal sized people I see. It's just another fallacy like saying Brits have bad teeth or drink tea all day. And that's a lot coming from me as I love to wind Americans up about obesity issues.
I have it psychologically conditioned to ignore the legions of fatties over here, and my state is pretty low on the body mass index average. But even so- yeah, theres way too much flab to go around.

This is a joke, right? ("and such small helpings!")
Presumably Hees' student days are a few decades behind him and I can't imagine the everyday provincial eating he was subjected to consisted of a whole lot more than meat 'n' chips bleakness.
Secondly, i prefer BK burgers to McD's, but the rest of their food i find crap and too small-a-portion size. But i prefer KFC to both anyways, as well as cornish pasties. Those and KFC and fish 'n chips are the shit. With curry sauce as well. In fact i love Indian food more than all those.
So to summarise: Indian curry > fish 'n chips w/curry sauce > KFC/cornish pasties > BK burgers > McD's food > the other crap they sell at BK
I think it's hard to have a firm opinion on one country without having traveled most of the world so I think the burger king dude is a moron for saying that.
My opinion on the countries I've been:
Italy: good food, surprisingly similar to spain and portugal, and most chicks range from average to hot.
France: so-so food, very similar alimentary habits to switzerland. As for the girls there's a bit of everything so it's hard to have a solid opinion. Generally speaking they are a bit too thin imo, some look almost anorectic.
Germany: I've been there only once and it was for a really short time and really close to the swiss borders so perhaps my opinion is far from the truth. I didn't like the food much honestly, but the chicks are above average. A bit too tall for my tastes though since I'm a relatively short guy.
Spain: Pretty good food in most places, and the women is generally hot. Most of them if not all seem to have a pretty big obsession with their image from a young age. It's not uncommon to see a 14 years old girl in the street who looks like she's 20. Whether or not this is a good thing is up to you.
Switzerland: The food is ok at best, I love Rosti though. As for the girls there's a bit of everything really, blondes, brunettes, asians are in almost equal numbers but generally speaking they are hot.
Portugal: Has the best and most varied food out of the countries I visited. Girls range from really ugly to really hot, though most of them are above average specially in the big cities like lisbon, oporto and braga.
Portugal and switzerland are the countries I'm the most familiar with since I live or lived there for at least 10 years each and traveled most of the country so I think I can say I have a solid opinion on them.
In my opinion Burger King, McDonalds, English food and English chicks are ALL disgusting.
Yeah, but then you eat pasta and fancy hippies who don't wear an ounce of make up
Ive known lots of attractive girls in my lifetime, and lots of ugly ones too.
People judge the UK if they've been on holiday to somewhere like London or Scotland or somewhere typically touristy. Granted, its a tiny country, but its also very diverse and constantly changing. 10 minutes from me across a river and the accent and people are completely different. 30 minutes North and its different again, and it continues like that all the way to Scotland.
Its like someone going on Holiday to Florida and judging the whole of America on amusement parks full of tourists.
Edit: Good to see you're not biased at all, Johnny

Actually, I've seen more of Britain than most people. I've lived in Oxfordshire, Wales, Devon, and Cornwall, and traveled all over. I've also lived in Canada and France.
And also, there's nothing wrong with making generalizations.
For example, there's an internet dating site that only accepts beautiful people. Potential members post photos of themselves, which are judged by other members, and only the most attractive are accepted. The acceptance:refusal ratio is highest for Scandinavians. It's a generalization to say Scandinavian people are on average, more attractive, but it's also accurate.
The bit about Americans all being morbidly obese, that was just a joke.
Oxfordshire, Wales, Devon, and Cornwall are all southern, and travelling doesn't prove anything. Perhaps if you're generalising a small village or even a town Id understand, but you're giving entire counties and countries.
And no, there's nothing wrong with generalisations, so long as you aren't so blatantly wrong/over the top.
The bit about Americans all being morbidly obese, that was just a joke.
its not a joke, you haven't traveled america enough :S
sure theres plenty of us exceptions who can run circles around the fatty cakes, but theres statistically a heck of a lot more lardos here than anywhere else
I blame TV.
It's all part of this PC crap - like we're supposed to say it's okay to be obese, and you should just be comfortable in your own skin (or even worse - "fat and proud"), and all that nonsense (Mercedes from Glee would be a perfect example).
Btw: Scotland are right behind you in terms of obesity - 27% of Scottish people, vs 32% of Americans, are obese.
Also, Adam might be interested to know that obesity rates are much higher in the North of England than the South: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obesity_in_the_United_Kingdom
WTF are you talking about now, Sketchy? The only time I've discussed obesity was when I mentioned it in America being a falacy or atleast considerably over-exaggerated. Other than that, in terms of the UK, Im referring to your original comment about Uglyness and food. I haven't even discussed obesity in the UK, you're the one who brought obesity in America into it as an example, assuming by ugly they must mean obese.
So yeah, god knows why you're throwing the obesity rates of the UK around.
Think about it...
Not all ugly women are obese, but all (or certainly the vast majority of) obese women are ugly. Therefore, if you have a lot of obese people in an area, it's going to lower the average attractiveness.
Ignoring your obesity fixation, Sketchy, your first post showed a latent contempt for French and any vaguely cosmopolitan cuisine. And vegetables. And now,
Also, Adam might be interested to know that obesity rates are much higher in the North of England than the South
WHY might he? Looks to me like a ridiculous passive-aggressive response to the way he pointed out you've lived in a few different places in the south west. With a latent contempt for the north. Forget the food, forget the fat chicks, THIS IS WHY YOU'RE MAKING US UPSET!
"but all (or certainly the vast majority of) obese women are ugly"
That's a really ignorant statement IMO.
Look at women like Dawn French. She's over weight, or has been considerably in the past.Granted, she's middle aged now, and not someone Id go for, but I wouldn't say she's ugly. Certainly not in comparison to someone like Joe Brand.
Also you need to be careful how you use the term Obese. Nowadays Obese is anything over the recommended body weight, not just morbidly obese people.
I have nothing against the North or Northerners. Don't know where you got that idea. It's just that Adam seems to think that I only have knowledge of Southerners, as if Northerners might be much more attractive, and I'm merely pointing out that they probably aren't.
So what if I don't like French-style cuisine? I'm sure there are some foods that you like more than others.
I would say Dawn French is *physically* pretty unattractive. I guess it depends how you want to define ugly - if you look at people on HotOrNot.com, roughly what score constitutes ugly? Anything below average? Anything below 5? Anything below 2?
No, Obese is not "anything over the recommended body weight". Obese is a very clearly defined term, used to mean having a BMI over 30 (not accounting for athletes, etc) - a BMI between 25 and 30 is overweight, but not obese.

That was my understanding too. Alot of people who think they are fat that i've met are pleasently surprised that they're medically "normal" when taking the BMI test.

tell me about food from portugal.
ive been there a bunch of times but i really dont remember anything special. the only thing i do recall is chicken Piri piri or Piri piri chicken- whatever you wanna call it. that spicy chicken is the best. as a german i find it to be just super spicy but man it's just so worth it.
what other portugese food is there?
also about women from there? thats like hairway to steven.
seriously the more you go to the south the hairier people get- not just men but women also. just look at how super hairy people are. its just because they live in warm/hot areas so of course they have more hair than say a german or swede because we don't have to protect our skin from the sun.
so if you are on the beach with natives you feel like you are surrounded by grizzly bears - at least if you dont happen to be hairy as well.
so yeh portugese ladies have too much hair everywhere which is kinda nasty. what makes matters worse is that most of them have black hair. see if i said ALL of them have black hair some knob would tell me "really do you know every single women in portugal?" so lets just say MOST of them have black hair and since black hair is way more visible than say light blond (and maybe it even growth thicker) you will notice the hair even more. so i have seen a lot of bearded ladies in portugal. you know little lady moustache. that just grosses me so out.
talking about food and if ladies are attractive or not is mostly just a personal taste and just your own opinion but when i say people in the south are more hairy because they need to protect themselves from the sun and black hair is more visible those things are "scientific" (lol) facts- at least they are facts so blah

Well there are all sorts of dishes, I haven't tried half since each region seems to have their own.
Personally my favorite would be some cod dishes such as "bacalhau a braz"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacalhau_%C3%A0_Br%C3%A1s) or "bacalhau com natas"(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacalhau_com_natas).
I don't really prefer portugal's cuisine exclusively because of it's dishes though, honestly there a few (specially northern) of them I can barely look, let alone eat them. I like it mostly because among other reasons, it's generally healthier and more tasteful than in most countries. Of course this only my personal opinion, I'm sure not everyone will agree with me.
As for people being hairy well I agree to some extent.
Men, specially the older are usually very hairy in comparison with some other countries but as for girls around my age they aren't any hairier than girls are elsewhere and don't have usually have moustaches.
Older woman though, above the 45/50 are usually very unattractive, as if they don't seem to care for their image much if at all, specially in the less populated areas of the country. Actually in portugal there are very few persons with black hair, the vast majority of the population has brown hair, with some color variations between the north and south because of their ethnic ancestry. i.e People from the north descend mostly from the lusitanians who themselves descended from germanic and celt tribes and have usually brown, light brown and blond hair, people from the south descended mostly from the moors, having a usually darker hair, mostly dark brown and the center has a mix between both.
As a man with huge (fnar) amounts of experience with British food, women, and shooting dirty Northerners, I can safely say our ugly women are exactly the same as Hayo's ugly women, only with less clogs and armpit hair.
In defence of British food, Britain traditionally has never been a place where exotic spices and things have been available. Mustard is the only spice that grows (or grew) here, so traditional 'poor' food has been basically meat with vegetables. The opening up of the world, and imperialism, brought loads of new exciting things here though, but a lot of it has been poorly cooked and over-spiced simply because we did not know how to cook with these new things. However, that is all changing, and I'd hazard a guess that Britain is one of the best places in the world for cuisine now; young people are familiar with a vast range of dishes from all around the world. Shame none of it is 'British' cooking though.
Girls are the same all over. Except Nepal, they're special.
HaHa- so true. I left the UK six years ago, I would do anything for a greggs now... or beans on toast... or a fry up. Can't say I miss the girls though- partly why I left.
Not really. Travelling in USA Ill see around 10-15 truly obese people, including men and children, not just women. That's not a lot in comparison to the hundreds of slim/normal sized people I see. It's just another fallacy like saying Brits have bad teeth or drink tea all day.
Implying that's not true?
In Norway we ski all day every day and polar bears roam the streets.
