It isn't out yet, so most people don't know very much about it. There is no release date. It will not be 3D. Extensions will have a built-in updater. The primary focus will be a sleek design with expandable functionality. It is in development, but definitely won't be out for at least two more years. It is being designed with multiple exporters in mind, so it won't be so time consuming to make them. There will be no HTML5 exporter for MMF2, as that will be with MMF3. There will be product discounts for those that own MMF2 to upgrade to MMF3, but there won't be discounts for, as an example, MMF2 SWF exporter owners buying the MMF3 SWF Exporter, since the exporters will still work on the previous generation of software. MMF3 will not be directly backwards compatible, but a sort of converter will try to port over as much functionality as possible from your old MFAs into the new one. This allows the lame useless features from KnP that were only kept for legacy reasons to be replaced with features that make sense. There will be no loss of functionality, as anything that can be done in MMF2 will have a successor in MMF3.

I am confused by this a little. Are you saying you'll have to buy the MMF3 version separately? Or that the MMF2 version will work with MMF3?
You'll have to buy the exporter for MMF3 separately, and no discount if you own the equivalent exporter for MMF2. I can't remember their exact wording, but it made perfect sense when they explained it to me

Well, 2D has reemerged quite strongly in recent years commercially. 2D never exactly died out in the indie world so maybe it's not a bad decision to keep it 2d. Although SOME form of 3d support, even a 3rd party extension would be nice. Even just so people can mess about with it.
MMF2 might do anything 2D, but in MMF3 I am sure it's easier (less workarounds) and more stable. 3D will be possible with the Stone Goose OpenGL engine, which will be in full swing by then.
Trust me, MMF3 is going to be amazing. Unity is already the industry standard for 3D gaming. There really isn't much CT can do to compete with it. Much of the way Unity works is how users like Nifflas have been pushing for MMF to go for years. There will inevitably be extensions and such to make 3D possible, and it'll likely be far better than 3D in MMF2, but the program will still be centered around 2D.

What is meant by "custom variables exactly"? Something other than the already abundant supply of global and alterable values, I assume? I can't see why we would need it. But if its really helpful/powerful and I would use it, then I am still for it!
I don't know where you're picking up custom variables from, but instead of having the lame 26 value limit, there will be more. Flags will also be nameable, which means people can use them without having ugly code.
