Just wanted to know, who played this game here and what is the overall feel and experience you had from this game?
Image

I have a level 38 Witch Doctor and a Level 32 Barbarian on Nightmare... It was kinda fun to play but it got me bored after awhile

It seems that the game is shorter than Diablo 2 and more repetative if you keep playing it trough, only because the stages and monsters keep repeating themselves. But don't ask me much, for I am on drugs and the effect of the drugs tire me up so I cannot do much when it comes to the disinterest I feel from every experience I had with this game.

The skills I use for the witch doctor currently is rain of toads, but the witch doctor seems kinda weak character compared to the barbarian that just hack and slash everything in his path...

If you bought yourself a copy of this game I would like to play with you online and make a group of klik players kicking monster's asses on this game, so join me and buy the game, so we could team up!

Cecilectomy#1792 = battletag

Obviously I own it and I love the game. I have a level 60 Monk and a 28 Barbarian. The environments are repetitious yes, but there is tons of random content that you just won't see during your first playthroughs. Pointless things to collect. Rare and Legendary items to farm. Secret rainbow pony level to unlock.

Personally I'm addicted to the Auction house. I accumulate gear with magic find, and then farm items to sell on the auction house, to make money, to buy better gear with MF, and so on and so forth.

I just put up a rare ring that is apparently worth quite a bit. There are only a few others with similar stats and the lowest buyout is at 700k gold.

p.s. - It's gonna be crazy to see how the real money auction house economy turns out. might actually be able to make some extra cash with that in my free time.

I got a level 60 Monk and Witch Doctor. While the witch doctor has the awesome firebomb skill (you throw a burning skull) you're pretty much limited to poison darts if you want to do decent single target damage. He got some awesome AoE skills though. Two Acid Rains will kill off most non-champion non-boss monsters. Unfortunately the zombie dogs are pretty weak, the gargantuan fares better although it too dies a lot against certain champion combinations (my pet peeve is Vampiric Plagued, where the gargantuan will happily stand in the plague puddle, healing the monster for the damage it takes) The monk on the other hand has lots of buffs and does pretty good single target damage.

I disagree about Diablo III being more repetive than Diablo II. In Diablo II every game was more or less the same, just with different maps and different monster. In D3 while the maps themselves have less variety, you do encounter random events (too many to list them all, but the earliest would be the Jar of Souls and Matriarch's Bones in the cemetary of the forsaken in act 1) and the champion/boss modifier variety is greater.

Strange how companies can make you fork over cash for virtual items but selling a MMORPG account can land you in Jail. They love milking customers for every penny. I think Diablo 3 lacks the charm of its predecessors in quite a few ways. Then again I don't play many modern games much anymore. Most end up disappointing me and or are simply not worth what they cost.

Separate note: Anything related steam then I avoid it like the plague. I'm still disgruntled over my "VIRTUAL" copy of AVP3 which no longer works. Glad it only cost $10 which is about what the game is worth...

<rant>
you're the first person I've heard that says it lacks the charm of it's predecessors. IMO and that of most others I've heard, describe it as the opposite, being a natural progression of the series. You sound like an old man going "dab nab all these newfangled fancy pants thingamabobs!"

Also I have NEVER heard of anyone going to jail over selling an MMO account. Account/Player/IP/etc. bans of course, but jail time? Show me.

As for the virtual items, you pay for them with the knowledge that the company does not have to supply support for eternity. That is on you good sir. You don't HAVE to buy them.

As for Steam, I have never had a problem with them. How exactly does AVP3 not work anymore? if it is a system requirement issue, graphics card driver problem, or compatibility issue, then that has NOTHING to do with Valve or steam. They are an intermediary. A publisher. A download service. Support is ultimately up to the developers of the game. Blame Sega not Steam. You would have had the same problem had it been a hard copy on a disc. You might as well avoid software and technology in general then. Cause guess what. Everything deprecates, eventually.

Also I did a google search and found a lot of information about compatibility with AVP and Vista. If this was your issue, it seems to have been fixed. Don't act like all Steam related stuff is bad, because of an isolated incident unrelated to steam. I hate that kind of attitude. "Well this one thing on their service was terrible so it must all be, and its THEIR fault". See above, you are always going to have problems no matter what service or medium you get your games on.

Wow that's a lot of assumptions. As for landing yourself in jail for selling a MMORPG account it can happen because it did at my university. (A student in the previous video game design class.) When you sign up for an MMO you usually agree to certain terms and conditions. Selling an MMO account or virtual gold to another player is a HUGE violation of those rules. Kids from Korea and some other countries were buying up this guys accounts through paypal. In some of these very same countries people mine virtual gold or level up characters in order to make a living. (YES ITS TRUE) This is highly illegal as far as our government is concerned. Okay so Blizzard is not making you give them money but you must admit this is yet another cheap tactic to sucker money out of gamers. Games can be addictive after all! Seriously these big developers look at gamers the same way they'd look at a bunch of rabid baboons. They are mindless but they need food so here.... "throws garbage"

Old man? LOL Fair enough but (I'm not that old!) I can remember when things were better. (At least for me)

<rant on why steam sucks>
I hate it when people praise and defend Steam like its gods gift to both gamers and developers. Its terrible how long you must wait while gigabytes of data downloads. What about being forced to upgrade games when Steam feels like telling you? If you try and block the annoying ads the program takes a dump. (I hate being bothered when I'm gaming.) I don't care what other people are playing or about worthless achievements. Steam sucks because you only rent the software instead of actually owning a physical copy. Regarding AVP3 I was using an XP machine. It stopped working after I re-enabled my connection to steam because it was blocked for several months. I got tired of analyzing my network traffic and seeing Steam hog up all the bandwidth as I sat there doing nothing! After logging back it and trying to play my game it told me it found a upgrade. I forcibly canceled it because my logic is why upgrade unless I am having an issue? No reason to upgrade if I am happy with the game in its current state. (Far from the truth but that's another topic in itself) Now AVP3 wouldn't launch even though all of the original data sat preserved in its original directory. Okay I agree to finally let it upgrade and BOOM the program does what it does best and take a dump with an error message.

Attempts at fixing Steam:
1. Attempted reinstalling everything.
2. Reformatted machine.
3. Reinstalling everything again.
4. Same error cryptic error string in that ugly gray box.
5. Erased steam forever and good riddance. I'm done!

My system is up to date as far as MS is concerned. I do my 3d modeling and coding on this same computer so don't blast me for still using XP. I have a few Win7 machines but XP is still way easier to customize with tools like Nlite which is why it still rocks. In summary I got fed up with steam and then not working half the time made it a sad joke. In the end it was not worth all the trouble. Steam is a pain in the arse and I hope when it finally dies it never returns. Sorry to hijack this thread but now finally back on topic....... Diablo 3 is not a bad game by any means it just does not appeal to me in the same respect as the first two. I think they waited far too long to make the 3rd installment much like what happened with StarCrap2. Maybe I expected too much of Blizzard or could it be my tastes have possibly changed? If you like the game then fine that's your opinion but just because I don't shouldn't make me the obligatory old man. If I say I like predominately 2d games does that make me old-school or instead could that be viewed as only a preference? I purchased the original Diablo back when it was new and the 2nd while I was still in my teenage years so I have been around to witness both the advancements and every step backward since then. Steam is a restricting and controllive medium which I am happy to not be a part of. My previous steam purchases included the Orangebox, garry's mod and a few others which are now forgotten. They will be somewhat missed but I won't shed a tear over a steaming pile of....well...... steam!

I feel sorry for anyone stuck with Vista.

1. What country are you from?
2. Was this guy selling his OWN account?
3. Not a question, just a sidenote. EULAs are generally not legally enforcable. You're not going to jail for breaking the EULA, just that it more or less says the company running the game can do more or less whatever they want with your account.

Pretty much summed up reasons I wouldn't go near it with a 10 ft pole, but I think its doing a great amount of destruction to the PC gaming industry

1. America.
2. I'm not sure of every little detail. He found a way to generate millions of gold in some MMO and had the FBI at his doorstep for this virtual gold mining which he then sold to receive real world cash.
3. Breaking the EULA won't send you to jail but shady transactions and hacking just might! I will ask my former teacher Monday if she remembers what happened to her student.

Well, items sold on RMAH are created just like any other item. It's not like Blizzard are creating special items only for the RMAH.

Welcome to the wonderful world of modern gaming.
This is nearly as bad as Starcrap 2 not having LAN support, no Spawn copy and only a Terran campaign. Just UGH!
