I decided to pop back in and see what was going on in here, and seriously, I don't know anyone. There are only a few people here who I remember, and it is strange to see people chatting, who I have never heard of before, and not beind replied to as 'stfu n00b' or some alternate phrase.
And Mike, how come you never chat too me on MSN anymore? I have a new MSN.

They say money is the root of all evil. Bill Gates has more then everyone else, coincidence? Maybe.... nah
Review Zone hasn't replaced it, RZ has been on the DC for ages, but it was a DC page, not a different website. Clickzine was just removed, mainly because it was never updated or something like that.
I also doubt Clickzine will be back, but hey, you never know! I have no time to work on it really, I am busy being an editor at Planet Klik (once it gets back up) atm. Yes, a lot of people have moved on, it seems about the time i 'left' here, well i have always checked back in frequently, most people who i was friendly with moved on as well.
They say money is the root of all evil. Bill Gates has more then everyone else, coincidence? Maybe.... nah
Clickzine was like a klik magazine with reviews and previews and the sort. I think I remember PeterG having a post earlier this year saying the Clickzine was dead and he wasn't going to work on it anymore. It would be cool if it came back.
There's always IRC if you want a chat. Just join #k&p and/or #tgf on Blitzed. I liked the one on DALnet better, but most people don't agree with me...

*Proteus leaves, hopefully ne'er to return until this place is cleaned up and souped up a bit. (Okay, so I never said anything anywhere around here, and most people have no idea who I am - ie a nobody - but... well, I feel arrogant this eve after being DCMailed by a moronic prat, so I'm going to continue to vent my frustration on people who are so bored that they're reading this. Yeah. So there.)
hey 'cake' whats to stop you writeing things now...
and... whats to stop others of starting a mag, or
just doing like one issue then someone else will do
one... not a bad...
Ill upload the old issues soon. I might even end up making another issue. Who knows? I must talk to KlikmAster! I didn't say I would make another, I was thinking of it, but now PK is down for the indefinate future, I have nowhere to write.

I think the Click Community is dying. I mean it's bound to go on forever, but it's slowly becoming worse and worse... kinda like a vampire nailed in its coffin with no blood to suck. It's doomed I say, DOOMED! I mean, look... only 2 GOTW nominees! What happened to the good old days when it had 7 bad games at once? The Pending Page has also been dry lately... and even Shab seems to be competing with me for what little stuff there is left there .
Oh, right, and we miss ye, PeterG! Long live the ancient clickers!

Most of the old guys have gone a long time.... guess I'm one of the few ones left, I've been here for over 6 years now.
This place has definitily changed, it isn't like it used to. It's full of junk, filth, nasty remarks and so on. Also the content submitted isn't half as good as used to be. Half finished games, badly done games and so. Once in a while an excellent entry comes along, but most of the time
I pop in once in while, to check some stuff, but not like I used to do. A different breed of clickers is taking over the community and I'm not sure if it's a good thing. Also I've noticed that at times moderaters just join the crowd in filthy and nasty comment, instead of going against it.
I think they're trying to change some things, but in my opinion it's too late, the click community may be dying indeed.
This could be because in the old days, people would just have there own sites and make there own stuff. Those old days. Then this "community" thing came along, I never joined until clicking became really lonely, but now people just want to talk about clicking or start projects and not finish them because they can just explode ninja rabbits from mars. Crusty demons on friday, too bad I don't like them that much. 105 days till the re-scheduled Blink 182 concert woohoo!
Riteo. Anyway, moving back on track. If you wanna see nice lonely clicking (some of the best) go to http://www.happysalad.com VERY COOL!!!!
Clicking community isn't about how many forum activity it's about games being created. We hardly see any finished games anymore. Check the frontpage right now: New Download - Bob the Schizophrenic Arsonist Demo. It's nothing new really as the author states himself: "This is the same level as in the demo I posted previously- except it's completely re-built and made about twice as big. It's contains quite a lot of bloodn n' gore (it just wouldn't be the same without)."
That's a typical example of what people accomplish nowadays, a remake of their one level demo and don't expect the rest to come, most likely the game develoment gets terminated before the game is finished and another project will be started.
Also a typical nowadays click comment lot's of blood and gore, that seems to be the buzzword right now. No real depth in a game, no great concept, no original gameplay, the more filth is in it, the better the game. Most popular game at this moment, The Hand Game. It's another one of those examples, it's just as sick as this community. It even made the frontpage, shows how desperate we are for a click game these days. It has no depth at all, it's a real waste of time, but it perfectly shows the state of this community.... shame on us
Every month someone claims the click community is dying, I think this month's is a bit early, it was only a week or two I saw the last "community is dying" post.
Every month someone says the community is dead yet here we still are!
Just somebody, I'd quit your moral crusade if I were you, cos what you're saying is ignorant. For starters, there's a lot more games on this site without gore than there are with gore, and people should have the choice to play whatever type of game they want, whether it has blood and gore or adult content or not.
Don't dismiss anything people enjoy, because there's obviously a reason. I always think it's better to have a gory game as a form as escapism. Violent media does not breed violent audience, because any sane individual can tell the difference between right and wrong.
One last thing, my Hand Game.. Don't you maybe think you're in the minority here. The surprise popularity of my game obviously shows that it is the kind of thing people are wanting to play. Not to mention the game is entirely tongue in cheek, if you managed to get past the screenshots, which I doubt.
Arghh! Sorry for the rant, but niave individuals like that make me so mad.
I personally thought the V-Cade did lots for Click, I mean it had lots of original and unique games with an incentive for lastability. V-cade! Remote is okay, but not what it used to be. Right?
As for Click dying, well, I don't see it - I mean, MooClick games have not yet got going, and they have lots of potential.
I think the V-Cade was great, and I miss it. V-Cade Remote's not the same, but then again I don't think it ever set out to be... I heard that one of the V-Cade QCs (or a long time member, anyway) was going to make an arcade, possibly built on V-Cade Remote. But we'll have to wait and see.
Don't confuse 'dying' with 'turned shit'. Whoever said it was right; so long as newbies keep signing up the community still has life, even if that life is maggots crawling through the decaying flesh of the long-dead older members.
I think that the Daily Click is one of the only things in the Community that has truely stayed alive. One thing that disturbs me, though, is that there has been a shortage of new games. The DC is sort of turning into Klik Academy- there's only a few new games every few months.
A lot of great Klikers have left the community as well. Remember Virtually Real? They did some pretty cool stuff with KNP, and now there dead. That's just one example, though.
Also, everyone has high expectations. The engines have to be perfect, the graphics have to be stellar, exc. I think one should judge a game on how fun it is, not by how it actually looks.
Fine Garbage since 2003.

There sure is some "downtime" in every places, like when i actually win the gotw with my made-in-2hour game. You can't really think that you can get tons of games submitted once in a while.
There can be heaps of reason why there is a "downtime"
- Klikers are creating better and games with higher quality, and that takes more time.
- Klikers are aiming for a longer game, and that takes more time.
- Resting from game making.
- Obstructed by life.
As long as we wanted to stay in the klik community, the community aren't dying.
Games are not humans, and a community is made out of humans, not games.
Chris Och of Virtually Real's still around, at Natomic. There's a lot of upcoming games over that way, and Beau's Tango looks very cool. So it's not a case of 'oh noes, no new games, the community's dying!!1', since everyone's either making longer games, making games for competitions, or trying to make games but with life/exams in the way.
I have to agree with CYS's last post and Hamish's post. I really wish Klik-Me was more alive, but tons of people got scared off by the interface. Hopefully Klik-Me 2 will change that .
The click community does seem to be in a "long" drought now, however, it's all because of CYS's reason and not because it's actually dying. Around August 7th or so, the klik community will be full of life again because of the ACoder's competition.
I been working on Zombies Now mainly, stopping to work on other random games at some points. It's changed a lot since you lot played it, for the better I hope. Well, it's virtually bug free now at least.
Why is it that the shizzle is so hizzle that the fizzle is posizzle? I tell you, Gmak. I get my home Skillit up in this hizouse and then we axe a question, foo. Tooning Fourk.
Translation: ...Damn... I don't even know what it says...
Anyways, we all are doing stuff aren't we? So that kind of settles it. This place is active. Wow. Didn't see that one coming.
I've been working on Spyro Pig for the last 4 months, and I'm trying to make it practicly bug free.
Here's the real delmia: the Clicking Community isn't dying; the problem is that the games getting released, for the most part, are bad. What do you think?

I agree that there are a lot more games, but it seems like nowadays the gore/blood/adult ones make the frontpage more often even if it shouldn't. Sometimes a good and nice game doesn't make the frontpage in a week and a stpid gore game makes it.
Most likely it has to do with the moderaters of this site too, they just prefer rubbish above good stuff. I do think they just like the blood and gore or adult content, judging by some of the language they use in the forums they do.....

what a stupid and ignorant thing to say! firstly, blood 'n' gore games making the frontpage... did it ever occur to you that those sort of games are put up because people enjoy playing them? or because there are no good non-violent games?
i resent the accusation that we prefer "rubbish above good stuff". with that comment are you implying that violent games are rubbish? and yes, i will have you know i do like violent games! so what!? it's just a game, it's not real. i suppose you'd rather have people going out of there houses and decapitating their neighbours in real life rather than playing it on a computer game. and i do use expletives (much less now) - and so what about it? and if i see other people doing the same i let it pass - they're not hurting anyone.
people like you, with your will to censor everything, just annoy me. like trevor says, all you need to do is look where that hand game is in the top 10 downloads and realize that's what people want to play. my question to you is this: why would you deprive people of what they WANT? do you consider yourself a nanny, or a caring mother, or something? this is not a nanny site. we will not remove games with a few red pixels (remember that's all it is - red pixels) and we will not delete entire posts just because of a few letters arranged in a certain order.
if you don't like it here, i suggest you turn on AOL parental controls to max, leave now and don't return. simple as!
I tried to make a sailing game yesterday, with variable wind speed, currents, pulling in and letting out your sail, tacking, jibing, and capsize recovery. And in true TGF fashion, I was finishing the last picture of the starboard side of the holder 14 when it froze and it had not autosaved. I cant wait until MMF2 so I don't have to put up with this shiat.
Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
This thread is turning into a long one. It must be because the topic is both good and relevant.
On the topic "community is dying" Im with Tigs and possibly others. It is claimed all the time that the community is dying. The very fact that it still exists (it should have died at least 50 times now or so) proves the community is not dying. The community is changing but not dying. What COULD kill the community would be if all community websites died. Other than that it is highly unlikely the community will ever die. As long as we make sure new members join. It is almost as absurd as when people claim the world will end.
New topic: Quality/activity. The activity will always change. Sometimes there is more activity. Sometimes less. I agree with some of you saying good games take time to create. So if there is less activity we are making better games. Also consider the time of year. I know we come from all over the world. But in europe we are in the beginning of summer now. This means less time (for me at least) spend on the computer and more time outside enjoying the sun. This could result in a general fall in activity (since there are less active people). If it is so, I could not say. It depends eg on how large a percent of the community resides in europe etc.
As for the quality. I agree a game does not have to have elite graphics to be good. It should always be evaluated by the entertaining value (I did not say how fun it was). Not all games are supposed to be fun. But all games are supposed to be entertaining. However it takes time to create an entertaining game.
The community as a whole. As the community is rather small it makes me wonder ... well it also hurts me to see that there is still a war going on in the community. It may not be so visible as it used to be but it still exists. I remember a few years ago when it was like TDC vs. TK or some elite click group. It would be an endless flamewar TDC claiming they had a right to be there and the others claiming it was a useless site with n00bs and nothing else and that they were surpreme or something. A never example was the short war between TDC (mostly run by Pete) vs. KlikMe. We had similar arguments (not entirely of course but the theme was close).
As a small community it is not helpful to have wars and damaging competition. What would help would be if everyone could accept the fact that this is how the community looks like. Lets get the best out of it. One website takes care of this. And another of that. Etc. We dont need 10 news sites with member ability. We need one good news site. A new website should have a relevancy. A reason to exist. It should not just exist because there are already 4 others. No a new website should bring something new. Something that makes it worth joining and adding to the bunch of klik sites you got to visit once in a while.
I read half of it, dropped my biscuit and spilt my cup of tea in the process, but I agreed with what I consumed into my mind. Or what I read.
Anyway, I was just looking at the Daily Click and thinking, "Lord, this is one ugly looking site." I can't be bothered to go through the attributes which make this an ugly site because;
1. I can't be arsed
2. People will disagree with comments like, "no that's nice" and "I like that".
3. I'd sound gay if I did, "the corners were curvy, now they're... SQUARE! ewwww!
Broomie. I had a strange idea that this thread contained something meaningless (dont ask me why) so I had not read it before my entry.
Even so I took the time to read all the posts in the thread BEFORE I added my own post. If you take your time to post you must also take the time to read what was allready written. Otherwise dont write yourself.
Pete, maybe you did not see it as a war yourself, but most likely you are being sarcastic because of the smilie.
If you knew, I would have to kill you...

well i define a war as an event which involves many people killing each other, or threatening to, so
4 any situation in which there is fierce competition between opposing sides or a great fight against something harmful:
The past few months have witnessed a price war between leading supermarkets.
The government are to step up their attempt to wage war against/on drugs.

<kevin the teenager>"I am not your dictionary!"</kevin>
whatever you do, don't use a dictionary to support something around here, chris. look what happened to poor radix.
Pete ... honestly you are on thin ground when you claim war can only be used when people is killing each other. The word or term "war" can be used in a lot of other contexts:
"Flame war" ... which does not really have anything to do with fire you know
"Price war" ... in Denmark there has recently been a price war on fuel.
etc...
And should we then get serious again?
If you knew, I would have to kill you...

yeah i just thought your use of the word made it sound a tad extreme
X_Sheep my guess is you refer to this as a flame war. But it is really not. No one is talking bad about one another. I believe this is a simple discussion. And remember the word discussion does not imply something bad.
It was not really supposed to be sexy ... I am not that kind of person ...
Assault Andy ... your comment was not funny at all ... we try to amuse ourselves and you just come along and ruin it ... bad Assault Andy ... very bad ... shame on you even ...
