I dunno about you guys, but I'm sick of the recent 3D games. I know it's really their problem, but I'm just... sick of it. Lately, the store shelves have been filled with all lame 3D shooters and 3D platformers.

I mean, strategy games and simulations have gotten a lot better since converting to full 3D, but a 3D platformer is just... lame. What's the point of jumping around in 3D if you only have a 2D controller? Sonic, Lemmings, and Mario were a lot better in 2D.

And what's with these 3D shooters where you just run in and shoot tons of aliens or get some super weapon that kills every alien in sight? Same goes for those lame CRPG's where you click one super move that kills everything around you. I need a game with some challenge that doesn't do it by throwing hundreds of enemies at you at the same time.

Did that last sentence make sense?

Imho 3D games can be better. There's a lot more maneuverability in them, you can see where you're going, etc. Though 2D games have their positives, too.

Brute Force kinda sucked IMHO (even w/ 4 players), but I guess we can't all love a game. Halo, though -- now that's an awesome game. Nearly 2 years after I got it, I still play it on a regular basis (beat it on legendary in around 7 months, woot).

In general, I would disagree with the notion that game-quality has been on the decline since 3D was introduced. To me, it all depends on the developer, some are able to capture the feeling of classic 2D games in 3D and others aren't.

I tottaly Agree with you, the old 2D games were actually challenging. the newer games are a breeze. Halo i thought was quite easy. a game that gave me a challenge and was fun to play, Zelda: Wind Waker. thats my best game on GC by far. Super Smash Bros Melee gets quite hard. as can Metroid Prime.
I have beaten neally every 3D game i have ever played. why? because they are so easy, play TMNT on NES thats a challenge, Zelda 2, Double Dragon, Faxanadu e.t.c the older games were the challenging ones, nowadays it aint about quality its about quantity for most developers.
An Example of Quality is Shigeru Miyamito, every game i have ever played by him is Quality, Zelda Mario e.t.c

Shen, 3D does have its potential, but I guess nobody uses it. You're right in the sense it could be better though... except when it comes to platform games. I've never seen a platform game that's better in 3D than it was in 2D, unless they added tons of (useful) stuff.

Games these days are too easy. Except maybe Mafia and Civilisations III (on the hardest setting). And ED, if you count that as a modern game.

Yeah, it works when you *need* realistic physics and good graphics. I suppose it works for simulations and RTS's as well.

Get Serious Sam 2 then, mindless violence against stupid numbers of enemys, its great.

I agere though Theme Park World Sucked, and so will RCT if they go 3D, computers havent got the power yet. Chris Sawyer said for RCT to be 3d and have the features of the current ones PC's will have to 2, 3, possibly 4 times they power they are now.

Muz: I think they have Halo out for PC (they might not. I don't really check out PC games as much as I used too).
I agree, however, games just seem to be getting easier these days. If you want a challenge, just play one of the SimCity's without cheats.
