Meh' I'm not going to bother... No actually I am...

I belive that 'one day' 3d games will be as good as the good old 2d games... but just LOOK at how the evolution of 2d games went... hmm 80s ok... evolving... then the 90s Whoa! 2d great! and 3d was just getting some sun... (remember those old basic poly games nasty...) I suppose it will take like 20 years for 3d games to mature... by that time maybe a new way to play will come out...

It's just that nowadays... Companies seemed to be more focused on presentation because of competition (it's heavier today). So, they have less focus on gameplay. Some good games could come out today... But in smaller numbers.

As for 3D, it's a different set of paints. It depends on the "painter" (creators) to use it well.

Games being 3D and games being easy are two separate things. When 3D came along the games industry had already gone mainstream, thus resulting in easy games. Most casual gamers don't want a challenge, unfortunately. But it is certainly possible to make a hard 3D game.

As for 3D versus 2D, I like both. I would prefer if their were some more 2D platformers to balance it out (ideally a 2D platformer using 3D graphics) but I don't think 3D platformers are bad, just different.

I wonder if us original gamers are not crossing the generational gap between new and old technology...
