Hi All
I need someone to give me a hand with something...
I'm looking for a new graphics card around the AUD$300 mark. At present I'm checking out the Leadtek A360 TD 256MB ($325) and the Asus ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB ($341).
The Leadtek has a GeForce chipset, whereas the Asus has a Radeon. Does anyone have any opinion on what, out of these two, or otherwise, would be the best card to get at around that price (AUD)?
I'm told Radeon's are generally faster than GeForces, but I'm concerned about the Asus only having 128MB on-board RAM, whereas the Leadtek has 256MB.
Anyone have any thoughts on which is better? Or if you think I should go for something else entirely?

Might I suggest the Krypton 460 PE 256MB. My friend got one of these and swears by it, and he's pretty fussy when it comes to these sort of things. Costs about AUD$299, I'd be asking your retailer about that one.
Hope I helped!

Gee, well then my fantasy is doing a great job in my friends computer. This is what I get for trying to help once in a while and people wonder why I'm always so mean... for shame!

Do smiley faces not convey the same meaning as they used to? *sigh*
I searched Krypton 460 PE 256MB on google world-wide (no quotes or anything) and only got two results... both from the same server, of a page with nothing on it. Well, not literally nothing... nothing useful. Did you spell everything right?

I don't think it has the MB in the name and I may have gotten the numbers around the wrong way but it's something like that! Ask your dealer (not of drugs of course what would your mother think) if he has anything like that.

Nup, I cant find Krypton anywhere. Well, I found two places called Krypton; the first was a NZ company which builds custom computers and have a picture of a tractor as their backdrop, and the second was a company that sells ergonomic chairs.
Can you ask for a URL, plz?

Save more 300$ and buy a Nvidia Geforce FX 9950 256MB which rocks but is near 700$ which makes it too ...........!!!!!!!!!!!
While we're on the topic...
Anyone know where to get any Geforce or Radeon for 50$ CANADIAN or less?
Cant run SAVAGE without
Oh yeah and 50 bux or less because.....
THATS ALL I HAVE, KIDDOS!!
i think the best radeon and best geforce are almost exactly the same performance wise but the radeon is slightly more expensive £350/£300 (thats uk price)
i recently bought a geforce fx 5600 256mb replacing a geforce 4 mx 64mb
i has made no difference that i can see with my games and cost me £180
mabye its the crappy celeron slowing me down.
www.newegg.com is a great place to find low priced computer parts. Radeon cards will generally run games which make use of pixel and vertex shaders faster than Nvidia cards.
99 percent chance that the above post is 100 percent correct.
