the sega saturn and dreamcast topic got me thinking. i have a GAMECUBE because
A) it has the most original games (animal crossing anyone?)
B) the controls are perfect
C) its so small that it even has a handle to carry it around
D) it can continue all the brilliant Nintendo franchises e.g. Metroid, Mario
some people say "its too kiddy" but which console is getting the gritty FULL 3D resident evil 4? or the darktoned people-possesing Geist (check it out if u dont already know of it)? Nintendo Gamecube thats who.
now its ur turn
Game Cubes are pretty cool. The controls are the best I ever held and it has awesome games, but it can't play DVD. That's the only let down. But I still love the mini dics, they're cool!
I had a Gamecube till I sold it, The controls are to small, If you sweat alittle your hands skid all over the place, most of the games suck (Yep, practically all 4 of them or so), And XBox in comparison makes Nintendo look like poo.
wat does xbox have that Gamecube doesnt. besides the "hard drive". cmon just get a computer there heaps better. and about the dvd u can get one its called a PanaCube made by Panasonic and it is heaps cool. the only good game on xbox is Halo and now thats on pc. 99% of good games on ps2 or xbox are also on something else.
I don't see PS2's WWE Smackdown on any other consoles (though maybe that's mainly because I don't look).
Personally, I'm not really for the Gamecube. There's not enough multiplayer games and besides short loading time, multiplaying is the only advantage consoles have over computers.
The XBox is just a fad. All the games are shiny and made mainly for money, instead of fun. It's just an obsolete PC with joysticks instead of a keyboard and mouse. And maybe a bigger monitor and better speakers.

I have a PS2, I chose it because of the huge range of games and also some of the best games I've played where on only avalible on it. The DVD player was also one of the reasons I brought it.
Try a 733 mHz CPU, 233 mHz graphics chip, 8 GB hard drive (who needs a memory card?), the ability to play DVDs, the ability to copy your CDs onto your hard drive to listen to at any time, a quality filter on its games, and the best games ever (Magic: The Gathering Battlegrounds, for example). I still love my Cube though.
I've got:
Xbox (7 games - Including M:TGB, D&D Heroes, Halo, Hitman 2)
GameCube (2 games - Super Smash Brothers Melee & Viewtiful Joe [Yay!])
Nintendo 64 (9 games - Including Super Smash Brothers, Z: OOT, Z:MM, Mario Kart 64)
Super Nintendo (60+ games - Including Battletoads, Super Metroid, Killer Instinct, MK3, Z:ALTTP)
NES (20+ games - Including Double Dragon II)
I have them because they were all the best of their time, and I keep managing to score them really cheap
No Genesis? The Genesis had better games than the SNES on average.

well yeah the xbox has better specs BUT does that really matter. for example if ur gonna want to take your game data to a friends house your gonna need to have a memory card or you can carry the huge beast of a machine in your pocket . . . im saying that the GC has the best and most orignal games, regardless of its "power"
You know, looking at those specs for the X-Box, I realised that the PC I 'salvaged' from... a group that didn't want them is more advanced. And I 'salvaged' that PC 3 years ago. There's no quality filter, but filters suck anyway.
And I'm not sure, but I there's a GC emulator for the PC. So, there... my crappy PC has all I need, cept extra controllers and surround sound .

--------------------------------
I have:
GameCube
Nintendo64
Playstation
SNES
NES
(and ill have an Xbox soon)
--------------------------------
yeh X-box may have better specs but i mean who really gives a crap,
i mean the games make the console good not the hardware.
Gamecube have some of the greatest games of all time reborned on it. Zelda, Mario, Metroid e.t.c
The controllers fit perfectly into your hand, i mean your fingers just wrap around the L and R buttons, and every button is easy to reach.
I'm stuck in the past man, my latest thing is an N64 but I play my Super Nintendo and Mega Drive way more. Why? Because the games are much better.
Show me the power child,
I'd like to say,
That I'm down on my knees today,
Gives me the butterflies,
Gives me away,
'Til I'm up on my feet again,
I'm feeling outshined.

i have a ps2. not only does it boast better games and a better controller than the other 2, i can also play all my old ps1 games on it. xbox is ok but it doesn't have enough good games on to make it worth buying. and i HATE the gamecube controller so that's a definite no-no.
I've owned all 3 major consoles that are out today, and I have to say the X-box seems the best, Note I said "Seems" not "IS" so no starting console wars PLEASE..
And to tell you the truth, although the gamecube has a good few top games, thats it, the rest on the shelf is garbage and is not to be looked at, and to be quite frank, its going the same way the N64 and Dreamcast did, just slightly slower..
As for the ps2, everything seems to be quantity not quality, most games on that console you can get on the others so there really isn't anything special about it.
And as for online capabilities, X-box online comes out on top.. so meh
I've got my gamecube, why? Cause it's cheap, there are some fun games for it, Metroid Prime 2 is out this year, and so is a Smash Brothers sequel. That's enough reason for me.
Kenly Browne, Sonic Heroes is already out... but it's crap compared to the 2 Sonic Adventures. I wouldn't reccomend wasting your money on it... at least not until it's on the clearance rack.
I don't get the newest game conseles any more because, lets say you get Playstation. They come out with Playstation 2, which is just like the first, only they have better games and a DVD player. And now, they are coming out with Playstation 3. You see? They just keep making new ones, so you keep buying and buying until you've wasted all of your money and become a hobo. Dirty marketing of doom...
Fine Garbage since 2003.
CURRENT PROJECT:
-Paying off a massive amount of debt in college loans.
-Working in television.
Fanboys annoy me. The only reason people are ever truly passionate about stuff like this is because they don't have the system the other guy does. Let's face it, there are good games on every console, and compared to 10 years ago, they are all amazing in terms of technical specs.
The X-box really is an awesome console, people complain about the size weight etc.. well it doesn't matter, I mean its not as if you carry it everywhere is it?
It has just as many games as the ps2, but with better gfx etc..
And the control pad is not a horrid huge thing, its actually rather comfortable and overall quite powerfull (Vibrating etc..)
The dvd player is very cool, you can play copied dvd's on it too (although the downside is having to buy the remote etc.. which is cheap anyway)
And those who do complain of the weight should grow up, you can't expect to have all that power yet have it weigh as much as a calculator can you?
"overall quite powerfull (Vibrating etc..)"
Now we know why Jon loves his X-Box.
I won't buy that steaming piece of crap they call the Playstation 2 until they make the damned things last for more than a year. After looking at all my friends PS2's I figure they have about a 1 to 4 ratio of working to non working ps2's.
Although I had a friend who had his Gamecube literally burst into flames.

i like how the xbox comes equipped to play DVDs... but you have to pay £20 for a DVD remote. and how it comes with a broadband modem... but you have to pay for the xbox live starter pack. at least with the ps2 you get it ALL when you buy it. and online play is free.
If they did more than put together an outdated PC with a Bootable version of Direct X based off of windows Pocket PC, I'd be more impressed. But its not a horrible console.
Xbox
PS2
PS1
Genesis
NES
Atari something-or-other
Commodore 64
I don't like cubes, mainly because out of the games I've played (about 12) I haven't liked any of them. I guess I prefer the graphics intense FPS games. Also, I hate people who go on about halo...It really isn't that amazing. Nothing that half-life didn't have.
My favourite is probably the xbox-I love the controller layout (the new one mind, not the old huge one) and in-game looks damn good.
I foolishly bought an x box for halo only to discover a sexy mac version was in the out roughly 4 days later but hey it makes an attractive coffee table.
Sonic Heros is crap? awwww man...lol..I heard that it was going to be faster paced then the two sonic adventures.
What is crappy about it man and what system is it on? Damn I LOVE SONIC
"I have dreamed a dream... But now that dream is gone from me."
I just got a Playstation. I don't really play on it too often, but I used to. I haven't bought a new game for it in years. I'd like a PS2 though, I really wanna play Manhunt.
had an atari 2000 (was given it)
megadrive (because i tried sonic and was blown away
ps1 (final fantasy 7, nuff said)
ps2 (though ff10 would be brill but it was only good)
gc (because it was dirt cheap in argos 70quid and luigi mansion)
gba (mario kart)
neogeopocket (cheap)
one time when i was at school some wally offered me a gamboy + mario land for a tenner so i swapped my copy of onside soccer for it. plonker
Kenley, it's out for all 3 systems. Controlling 3 characters at once does nothing but slow down the gameplay compared to the Sonic levels of old. The level design isn't isn't as good IMO. The American voices are horrible - typical by now - but this time you can't switch it back to Japanese. In 5 years, they haven't figured out how to completely fix the camera, and from what I've gathered so far, the story is the worst of the 3. Worst of all though is that most of the signature moves from the past few games are completely gone -- spin dash anyone?
I own a Cube because it has quality titles such as Metroid Prime, Zelda, Smash Brothers and Mario.Great games out on it this year include Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes, Metroid Prime 2 and Resident Evil 4
I own a PS2 since it has GTA games first,as well as Metal Gear Solid games first and there is a greater variation of games available for it.
I own an xbox since it will have Halo 2, Half Life 2, Splinter Cellandora Tomorrow and Deus Ex 2 out on it this year. I havn't a great PC so this is my only chance to play some of them games.
In conclusion you can judge other consoles if you don't own it. Focus on whats important rather than petty arguments
I own a NES...it's old, it's worn but i love it. There's nothing like the good old days.....so far i've spent about a $170 on games for my NES...
i might get a GBA sometime though..and for some reason, a Gamecube costs less than a GBA here in DK >_<
Ps2
Biggest and best range of games and great online.
Socom 2,NFS:underground,Madden 2004, oh and getting Champions of norrath tomorrow gonna be sweet 4 player action
and on my xbox halo, morrowind, and KoTR
do they still make gamecubes?
Yahoo.. this is fun!
well all consoles have something goin for them but one thing that worries me is the 2 controller ports on PS2? hmmm thats a bit stupid considering even the N64 had 4. well im getting an xbox soon mostly for Halo 2 (is there any other point in it)and Chicken boy if u read my post it says
"if ur gonna want to take your game data to a friends house your gonna need to have a memory card"
