I have 0 knowledge with MMF 1.5, My artwork is hopeless and I have never programmed anything before. The only thing I have going for me is a will to learn.
what I need is a place to get started, maybe a website that could help me learn the basics.
I had a small accident a few weeks ago and have found myself house bound, so with nothing better to do and with my head full of ideas, I decided I would try and teach myself how to use MMF 1.5 but after looking at some examples, I have to admit I am feeling very lost.
So could anyone point me in the right direction I would be very gratefull.
The best idea is do what I did when starting to learn how to use 'Klik', is start REALLY basic.
This means use library graphics if you can't be bothered making your own. But the key is start basic and experiment.
I recommend trying to make a few basic kind of games.
- A basic platformer where you have a character with default platform movement, a few platform backgrounds scattered around the play area, a few other objects that can be enemies that walk back and forth using path movement, and maybe an object that makes you win the level, or gives you points.
Then run the step through editor and MMF will ask you questions as events occur.
- A basic 'break out style' of game. Make a paddle with 8 direction movement that can move left and right only, make a brick object and put a few of them on the play area, and make a ball that bounces off your paddle, and destroys the bricks when it hits.
It's hard to get started...you may want a really basic tutorial if you know next to nothing, but once you get the hang of it you'll realise it's REALLY easy.
Well ... the library graphics cover a lot, so use them in the beginning when learning MMF ... you can always experiment with graphics later. You may also find games or graphics collections where you are allowed to use it ... thats ok. Just remember to tell the players who made the graphics.
When the game is complete you are free to post it here at TDC so it will be listed under "Downloads", so we may all try it out. When submitting it, remember to tell us its your first game, that you may know it yourself it is bad, that you would like constructive comments etc. etc. What ever you think is important to know. Then someone will surely play it and comment it. Do mind though, that there will often be someone with a bad attitude that will make bad/offensive comments ... thats included in the free service TDC is ... now you know, so dont be surprised ... however if you dont mind, the offender has gained nothing in trying to offend you ... so just ignore such stupidity ...
Another thing ... Im quite sure the MMF pack (cd2) comes with easy toturials???
if you have a will to learn, you're half way there.
MMF 1.5 and 1.5 Pro are almost identical. Pro has a few more extensions available, not many mind you, and it allows you to sell your applications without a "Fueled by Fusion" logo in the application. you can still sell your application with the normal version of MMF but you must include the logo somewhere. that's it.
as for tutorials that come in a series, if you wait for a couple of weeks i'll be relaunching klik academy( www.klik-academy.com ) with hopefully lots of tutorials in this fashion. so if you stick around then you might find those useful .
