I would have done it in AVI, but the file size would be much bigger. To prove a point, I made a video, about 8 minutes long, and it was 86MB in wmv, with extremely high quality. I made the same video in .AVI and the filesize was 1.2GB. Seriously.
Em... what's wrong with .wmv? I'm pretty sure that .wmv files have better and more lossless compression than DivX. Besides, Windows Media Player doesn't automaticly download the DivX codec.

Yes, but try running a wmv file on a linux box. And it's in MP9 format, which is brand new and requires MP9. Media player sucks. BS Player is a god among Media Players, and it's easier to run a divx file on (for example) a 133mhz than it is to even open MP9.
I don't care about Linux. MMF can't run under Linux, can it? And it's a dying OS. Also, I shouldn't have to worry about my computer not being able to open a WMP9 file, as it has 2.4 GhZ and a 256 MB RAM video card.
Um... I sense a flamewar is coming!
