society decides what’s normal but it differs from geographical areas, mostly because we are still isolated by mountains and oceans. Although we are verging on an assimilated world with the advent of the internet breaking down those barriers. I personally abide by what I think is normal, but you still have to have to draw a compromise to the majority's opinion to be accepted in society.

what if you lived in an area where 51% of people had some mental problem, and you were ok, because your in the minority your not normal. if you go off the fact that normal is 'what most people are'.
my opinion is that normal is everything working ok. completely in the middle. boring infact.
Jay, the majority doesn't necessarily mean greater in numbers but who is in power. If 75% of a geographically remote area was mentally ill, the remaining 25% would grow up learning how to be mentally ill. If it was any lower, like 60 or 50 a non-retarded adult would take charge and the mentally stable would decide that they are normal, because the mentally ill don't have the capacity.

1)Not eating other humans
2)Not drinking other peoples blood (it's dangerous)
3)Not killing loads of people (1 or 2 is ok)
4)Not trying to take over the world with a tin foil hat and a shopping cart
5)Where you don't believe that aliens probe you at night to steal you secerets.
6)Not walking around a shopping mall in a big trench coat and a giant sambreo
Basically not being crazy/insane/or just creepy...
And if THAT's not normal I really don't know what is but im not normal so I wouldn't really know .
But seriously...Normality should be seen as almost as impossibility by the standards we live by these days and the freedom we have. Normality is essentially governed by popularity, yet that does not mean that if something's normal it's the right thing, particularly by the standards of something.
Basically the definition of what is normal constantly reinvents itself with the changing times and in different cultures and geographic areas. It is also altered simply by the perception of people and their background.
In other words, normality doesn't really exist because there are too many factors influencing it, and what may be normal for some is abnormal for others.
Normality is pretty much true perfection. Something that can never be truely achieved by the majorities standards because there are too many variables that influence what perfection is, and these differ from person to person.
Sure there are some things that are considered 'normal' or 'perfect' by the large majority, but it doesn't make it so. At the end of the day, it's a matter of opinion.

What's the fun of being normal if you'd be just like everybody else?
I find it more fun to do things ordinary hoo-mans don't do.
For example:
1) Wear a hub cap as a hat
2) Use old/damaged/completely useless AOL CDs as throwing stars
3) Carrying a doorknob around whenever you're far from any civilization without doorknobs
4) Talking in annoyingly high squeaky voices and blaming it on your cat
