Finally decided to start working on shops and armor crafting upgrades. Along with that, I did some character portraits for key NPC's, and Arina herself.
Shops
Currently you can buy spells from the Blue-Hooded Mage in the village, for a relatively cheap price. (prices will likely be increased for higher level spells). You can also buy weapons (a randomized stock of 6 options) from Trails, a merchant you can (currently) meet at the save point between floors 5 and 6 of the tower. The weapons on sale only have main attribute bonuses though, and rarely even those. There should still be incentive to obtain weapons and spells by exploring and looting. Both the mage and Trails also buy respective items, for roughly 1/10 of their shop value. The reason for the low sell value is to not promote 'loot'n sell' runs between the tower and merchants. The main reason for selling to exist is that you can sell your old stuff when buying something, without needing to leave it laying around.
Armor Upgrade
There's a new NPC in the village, named Paws. He's the youngest of three brothers, who all run some sort of business in the region. Trails is the oldest brother. Paws can upgrade your vest (upgrading a vest in a forge sounds a bit odd, but ain't that just semantics? ;P ). Upgrading the vest is simple, but some advance planning is advised. The resource items you find while exploring each have one or two attribute factors. You use these items to upgrade your vest. Once enough points to an attribute has been added, that attribute levels up, and adds a permanent point to that attribute. Additional levels require obviously more points. Also, after every five items added to the vest, the upgrade cost increases by 10 gold. Essentially, to be cost effective in the long run, you're better off focusing on certain attributes, and using items with as high values as possible, to avoid unnecessary upgrade cost increases. If you've got plenty of money though, no one's stopping you from just slapping every item to the vest. I wouldn't recommend it though. ;P Upgrading the vest makes no visual difference, but I might add something later.
Other plans
I want there to be more options to use the resource items on, so expect additional ways to improve your gear. Possibly upgrading bracelets, or adding bonuses to weapons. Actual crafting of new items may not be a necessary addition, since the only thing you could do at the moment would be weapons... which you can already obtain by looting and buying.
Random Trivia
Those familiar with Twisted Fates might notice that Arina's vest is of slightly different design, with the open area with the strings being lower than in her original design, in which there was some 'underboob' visibility. I felt it was unnecessary skin for the character. Don't think I'm gonna exclude sexiness though! You can expect some sexy female NPC's down the line, especially if the story eventually pans out to Valenwoods in the Lower World, where the female Valenfolk pretty much wear fancy bikinis.
