Just a tiny update to show work continues, despite me having been occupied with Diablo 3 for the last week. D:
Before Diablo 3 came out, I added two noticeable things:
Armor loot
You can now find armor (different types of vests) as loot. You can only carry one, however, so when you find one, you can switch to it or leave it. Consequently, armor upgrading item requirements have been lowered, so that upgrading is still tempting. For the time being the armor doesn't visually show on the character, and I'm not sure if I'll add that feature to chapter 1 yet, but I'd definitely like to get there eventually.
Spiced up outdoor backgrounds+lore (see screenshot)
To better explain the region in the game world, called Skies of Evan, and to make the environment more immersive, I've added additional floating islands in the background of outdoor areas. Skies of Evan is a group of floating islands some 2km or so above the surface of Evan. A region where the Kii (the cat folk) primarily reside after having been driven there during a war on the surface some 80 cycles (years) ago. No one knows how the islands float exactly, but magic seems the obvious reason to everyone.
Additionally, I reorganized the outdoor tileset to be more flexible, and added some other new fun stuff to outdoors, such as tree leaves and vines waving in the occasional breeze.
Also
I've finally made myself a minimum to-do list of the remaining stuff for Chapter 1, and am now slowly tackling down things from it. Once I'm sick of Diablo 3, I'll get back to full speed again. ;P
