Greenlit! Yay!
Posted 6th Jun 15, by OMC 2 Comments

TL;DR: Follow updates on Twitter:

Splotches was Greenlit. Woo! If you voted, thanks!

Urby and I only have about an hour a week, if that, to work on the remake, so that explains why it's taking so long. Jobs and uni and life and stuff, you know. We're pretty far along, with a finished gameplay engine. We've tweaked some elements in the mechanics to make it more logical and added a few items. Now we've got to port over and update all the old levels, build a tutorial progression that introduces things nicely, and put in all the effects and connective tissue.

Got a few fun ideas to promote the re-release. Some videos and the like.

Probably going to release on PC first because of the good bit of Steam news, but the iPad version will follow soon after!

I post stuff about dev on Twitter, so give a follow.

Feel a bit of a one-trick gamedev pony with this game, so excited to see it out the door soon in a form I'm proud of, so I can move on to the next big project!
Splotches on Greenlight

Long time no blog!

Just popping in to share the link to Splotches on Greenlight:

An upvote would be FANTRUBULOUS. I would less than three you for at least three hours. It would be longer, but my memory isn't what it used to be. If you remind me about it, I'll less than three you for at least three more hours!

Splotches was recently featured in a sale from the Humble Bundle guys. If you happened to buy that bundle, you'll get a Steam key for Splotches if it makes it through the submission process!

Also, I'm mad busy with school and work, but Splotches for iPad is slowly coming along. UrbanMonk and I are rebuilding it from scratch!

Best wishes and tasty cakes to all of you.

Splotches Update
Posted 12th Dec 10, by OMC Post A Comment

Well, here's an update. I've done a few things in reaction to feedback since the last release. I thought I had a changelog sitting around here somewhere, but it's run off on me!

Music and sound effect volume levels now individually controlled.
Saves volume levels and window mode.
New right-click menu to remind players what each splotch mixes with.
Small instructions for editor.
Discard verification dialog in editor.
Checks for updates every 10th run.
Beta - Better save/load menu in the editor.

I've attached a couple of publicity pics I made for the update.

Download the game here on TDC: Or at the website:

So. This game took a big blob of my time. Did you think I'd let it lie already?

Splotches did not win anything in the competition, but it did get an honorable mention! And I still have hope. I'm looking for XBLA and/or iPad development connections to keep porting options open. If you know any....

Splotches was given away for a day here:
It got 8863 downloads and I got more feedback! I would recommend that place to anyone wanting some advertisement who is willing to let lots of people download the game for free. (You're compensated.)

And also, I have a list of things I have to do (bumped progress down to 98%). The big one is separating music and sound effects (still not sure of the best way to do that), but I also need to tidy up the editor's save menu and make more puzzles. Stuff like that.

Oh and, I've made almost no sales. Haven't really advertised it much though since it doesn't quite feel 100% for some reason. If you bought it, you will of course get free upgrades. And thanks again!

Anyway, thanks for reading! More smallish updates are sure to come.
