But, I'd rather see games made for characters that didn't have any game made for them.
Has anyone seen a Good Captain N The GameMaster game anywhere ?
What about some of the Mascots these companys decided not to go with ?
It would be nice to go through their idea dumpster so to speak, by doing some research, and taking some of their unused creations and running with them.
Captain N was going to be Nintendo's Mascot, but they ended up going with Mario for some reason. Mario worked out well though, but I still wish for some Captain N games.
I wonder what some of Sega's tossed aside mascots were.
And does anyone remember TurboGrafx 16 ? that system was Awesome and revolutionary. I loved the little cards, so portable, and took practically no space up. Those cards are way better than cd's or cartridges.
But it's forever lost in time because it was only sold in Toys 'R 'US stores.
That was my favorite system ever. It had some of the best pinball games I've ever played.
That big Headed caveman guy Bonk was their Sonic.
There was a TON of games for the TurboGrafx 16 too and most of them were good. It's sad but, the best system, mascot, game, doesn't necessarily win, only the most popular one.
Blood of the Ancient One, Seen only as Shadow, Faster than Lightning, Fierce as the Greatest Dragon, Nearly Invisible, Floating in a Dream, Entered through the Demon Door, Destroyer of Evil in a Realm with a Red Sky Scarred, Who could I be ?
I like the idea, and I'm really looking forward to the game. BUT, I really think you should make the controls more standard. It takes away from the classic feel of the old games when the control scheme is radically different. Pointing and clicking with the mouse doesn't belong.
Are you saying it doesnt belong just for the sake of keeping it old school? Or because its not fun?
I was thinking about making the game more mega man like and having the robot monsters be classic nintendo characters, maybe I can use that control scheme as one of the power ups?
Well, the "fun" from this game would be derived from playing classic characters in other (unrelated) classic worlds. But a point-n-click megaman isn't really megaman anymore. It may look like him, but it doesn't FEEL like him. You shouldn't assume that clicking with a mouse will be more fun. I mean, those old games are classics for a reason. It's because they got it right the first time. Part of making your game fun should be keeping what made the old games fun in the first place. That's just my opinion though.
I appreciate your opinion, I'll be honest and admit that I am really fond of the crosshair gameplay though. BUT I'll make it old school and put a demo when I can to compare.
Strangely I KNOW i updated the demo to reflect the mega man jumping sample + some other random things, but it wasn't updating on my ftp. The link is fixed now but its nothing major.
The look of this game is very very faithful to Nintendo classics, but i would also like to see more standard controls - it doesn't 'feel' right at the mo. But i do like what i have seen appart from that; well done and keep it up!!
