Looks very impressive.
The only thing that bothers me is your use of the color blue (0,0,255). The problem is that blue doesn't appear to be nearly as bright as the other colors, so it doesn't stand out well against the dark background, and you have to strain your eyes a bit - which is particularly bad as it seems to be the color used for the player's ships etc (it wouldn't be such a problem if it were an AI player).

Thanks Sketchy, this is certainly interesting and I hadn't really noticed it. The good news is that all player and AI units are the same actives (one for each unit/building) being set by an RGBCoeff that is stored at the start in a global and then called on creation by the player/AI. So all it would take is one click to change blue to cyan or whatever
The whole game is pretty much based on this aesthetic but when it's open source (if there's any interest) it would be easy for anyone to replace them if they want. Also I couldn't think of anything that would suit the game, but then I'm not really an artist!
