The Daily Click ::. Downloads ::. Review Review: SPy 2 Saffron Filter
Review: When I first looked at this game, I assumed it was just another cheap South Park fan game. But I guess, inspired by the size and the fact I actually bothered to test the link, I downloaded it anyway. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. First impressions were good(ignoring the slow loading bit). It had an incredibly good opening cutscene. The credits part was almost as good as those you see in movies. However, some of the later impressions were not as good. Although the cutscenes were still superb(for a klik game), the conversations went by a bit too quickly and the lack of animations show. But when you got a game this good, who cares about animations, right? I'd say, with animations, this game has one of the best cutscenes there is in a klik game. The interface was pretty badly made. The interface was HUGE, and putting aside the annoying buttons made it look ugly. The edit boxes and some were also pretty sloppily done. Not only that, but the fact that the game is riddled with bugs also gave me a bad first impression. Sometimes I wonder if they even bothered to test the game. Putting all that aside, the game is excellent. They have an in-depth tutorial(for a klik game) if you decide to put aside the poor interface and all the bugs. The missions were fun...if you can figure out what to do. Sure, they got the really cool Y-Comm and all which explains the ins and outs of the missions, but it takes time figuring out what to do. It took me a while to figure out which one's the Comm box, how many hits it takes to destroy sentry guns, how to disable the viruses, etc. I spent half my time on this game figuring out those little details they assumed everyone knew. Now if only the missions had a map showing where everything is...I'd give it almost a full 10. The bosses were EXTREMELY frustrating. For one thing, this requires even better reflexes than almost any other FPS games. If you miss out even on a split-second, you're dead. Yeah, a split-second, even faster than the average brain could process the info. The only way I got past the bosses were by carefully watching the animations to make sure of exactly the time I should click. This isn't necessarily a bad thing. At the time I wrote this, I'm still stuck on the 2nd boss :/. Gameplay Darn good gameplay +8 points Lots of gameplay bugs -1 point Lack of mission briefing map -1 point The Y-Comm and good tutorials +2 points 8 points total Presentation REALLY good cutscenes +9 points Over-use of the ugly windows buttons and edit boxes -2 points Cute gfx +1 point 9 points total Lastability Long missions +5 points Cool stuff to unlock +3 points Frustrating bosses & missions -2 points 6 points total Overall It's a superb game that would've been nearly flawless if it wasn't for all the problems I mentioned previously. 7.5 points total, but I'll round it up to 8
