I was looking forward to downloading this game - from what the description said it had a "realistic 3d engine", "evolving fighters" and "a lot more..." Quite what the lot more was I don't know, as this game seems to exist on one level and one level only.

Don't get me wrong, it's an attractive game. The graphics are clear and functional, if not terribly detailed. Mostly thickly-outlined cartoon style stuff (re Circy). The presentation does it's job basically and nothing else. Maybe a bit less comic sans would make it better. Also, a fake loading screen doesn't help. If one thing annoys me more than animals with clothes on it's a fake loading screen. There's no need for it!

The object of the game still remains a mystery to me. There's a couple of planets on the title screen with arrows saying "destroy" and "defend". It would help if I knew how. The basic premise of the game is move left and right, trying to shoot the enemy ships as they appear from the middle of the screen. Don't let the description fool you - this is no "realistic 3d engine". The circles guide your way left and right as you move from one side of the screen to the other, rapidly pummeling your shift button along the way. The idea is after so many points you gain, the better fighter you get to control, but I didn't see much evidence of this although you did get a better gun for a while.

The gameplay, although interesting at first, gets rather irritating later on. SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT SHIFT - you get the point! Maybe it wouldn't be so bad with some jumps or boosters but the "tracks" are sadly lacking. And when I say "tracks" I really mean "track". There are 4 zones to navigate through, then it starts all over again. There are powerups to gain: shields, plasma, health etc, but getting them is tricky as you have to use the mouse while also trying to guide your ship. Frustating when you die just before you buy some health.

Overall, it's a repetitive game, but I can see the potential. If there were a sequel I'd like to see some variation in gameplay and tracks - as well as some better music.
