This is an experiment of mine. Basically, it was a challenge for myself to actually make a game that's scary. However, with computer problems and having to do comissions and stuff, it is obviously late. I won't say much more about the gameplay, because I was trying to keep it a secret. It was scary at first, but by now I've been working on it so long it's hard for me to tell if it's scary at all anymore. The goal of the game is mostly exploration. It's kind of tedious, I realize.

Edit: Version 2.00 is here. Tons of polishing generally make the game considerably more playable now. You can also pick your gender, and there are new effects and areas.

Once I got over laughing at the flashlight beam apparently coming from the character's pants, the game was fairly frightening in a sudden BOO way.

Looks fun! Downloading...

A good and stable engine, but not really scary. Also, the turning around was kinda annoying.

Posted by ben mercer 5th November, 2005

Was quite scary and jumpy, the turning around coulda been alot better though. It would probably be better if the turning was mouse controlled, then you could aim the flashlight anywhere. Also the guy moves faster when going diagonally because you have not used trig for your movement.

I personally thought it was pretty cool. The whole dark spooky thing atmosphere was well done. Sadly the game lost its suspensfulness when i ran into the first bad guy (the grim reeper dude who finds everything funny). He was waaay to fast. Make slow moving...creepy creatures. Fast flying ghosts with giant axes dont go well with the mood. ...but thats just my opinion.

Okay, for some reason, pressing z doesn't do anything, even when I have bullets. is there supposed to be a gun I need to collect?

It also doesn't exit automatically, which is odd.

Posted by Noyb 5th November, 2005

There's a gun in the attic.

Posted by Muggüs 6th November, 2005

That was intense! Quite possibly the scariest Click game i'm yet to play. The atmosphere was pretty good, I especially like the torch. Really well done.

The was rather scary like Noyb said, in a "boo" like way.

However I it is a bit disappointing that I can meet enemies before I have a weapon. Sure I could just replay it and try something else, but that is a pretty tedious way of doing things. Not worth the effort in my oppinion.

It is the scariest click game I've ever played aswell. I particulary loved it when the lights went out. My heart actually jumped and I started to build up a sweat .

Turning system was bad, and flashlight runs out of battery too fast. Nice, and scary game anyways.. thumbs up!

I think probably The Cube is the scariest klik game I've played...

Posted by izac 6th November, 2005

It's a really good game but very scary. Good game

Posted by X_Sheep 6th November, 2005

I kinda agree with Cybermaze here, most respected horror games gives you a weapon first, and then throws in the enemies a few seconds later But a good game anyways.

i shit myself =

i've always wanted to do a flashlight system, something like that of fatal frame, it adds so much more atmosphere int he game

btw, good job with the game, t'was quite fun

Posted by ben mercer 7th November, 2005

It would probably be more scary if i had some idea where that random grim reaper guy came from.

But yeah it was pretty cool and a bit jumpy

Posted by Ted Boomerang 8th November, 2005

okay, I finished it.

It was a really cool experiance that should definatly needs to be seen again.

My only real beef is that we never really get to see the bloated face lady. she sounded creepy as hell and I was seriously anticipating on seeing her.

Posted by MasterM 8th November, 2005

wow that actually looks pretty cool

Posted by Pyro 8th November, 2005

Neat.

That guy walks an awfuly lot like someone from zombies ate my neighbors, haha.

Plus you cant go wrong with resident evil door and footstep sounds.

Posted by Willy C 9th November, 2005

pretty cool.. how did you do that flashlight effect? Can you make an example/article?

Posted by danjo 9th November, 2005

parts of this seem a little like my haunted house game i made for a comp... http://www.acoders.com/acsite/viewsoftware.php?id=106

Posted by izac 10th November, 2005

the only problem with this game is the charectoer, he looks a little cartoony like, compared to all the other graphics, this game reminds me of silent hill 3! silent hill 3 is a classic!!! scary!

Posted by Quagmire4444 18th November, 2005

Yeah, really good gameplay, took me a couple times to beat it.
Again, a nice jumping out at you kinda scary.
Turning the radio on in the main hall sets a nice mood when the lights are out and the zombies have risen.
Also, was there gasoline anywhere to power the engine in the basement? I didn't find any...

Two things though, you should make the zombies die easier, or give more ammo, and the game should stop all enemies from attacking you when you read memos / notes / books, I died a couple times from the flying plates that way.

Posted by Ryan Bloom 20th November, 2005

Yeah, the flying objects when reading is a nasty bug. Maybe one day I'll go back and clean those up.

The zombies, however, are supposed to be difficult to kill. You don't even have to kill them if you don't want to. I mean, they're zombies - they're already dead. If I wasn't already in such a rush to get this out the door, I would've made it so only head shots actually damaged them.

I like it. It has a very eerie atmosphere. The lighting and sound effects are very well done. My biggest complaint (aside from getting attacked when reading) is that an error message appears every time the program changes levels. That happen to anyone else?

Posted by Manji-Ichi 5th January, 2006

You......! You scared the hell out me What I did was Turned off the room lights and then put on resident evil 1 manison music then played the game I was so close to a heartattack! Hmmm the only reason this scared me was because I was waiting for so long for something to happen when a green thing attacked I must admit I did jump -.-
