Probably the most controversial game I've done; Scientology Pwned was made for CCT300H5F, a class I took in the fall semester of 2006 at the University of Toronto.

The premise of the game is to essentially shoot everything in sight. The single unobstructed map has four enemy generators that create progressively tougher enemies (theres only 3 types).

Before each round begins, there's a little blurb about scientology. Hopefully this will educate players about the organization for better or for worse. And before anyone else tells me, I'll be the first to admit those blurbs are very poorly written in terms of articulation, grammar, and in some cases spelling. I was typing them out at 5 in the morning with a shortage of Full Throttle.

AAAAnyways, some instructions for those who's religions forbid them to referr to the help section in a game (you know who you are):

Use the ARROW keys to move your character.

Use the CTRL keys to fire. Your shooting direction will automatically lock when the CTRL key is held down.

Alternatively, the SHIFT key can be held to lock your shooting direction when the CTRL key is not held down.

thats it, happy hunting.

Oh, and before I get my ass sued:

This game does not condone the use of violence against scientology or scientologists.

The views expressed in this game do not reflect those of Sheridan College, The University of Toronto, or any affiliated organizations.

Wow, very slick! You have a talent for gameplay design for sure. Nice effects too.

Only critisism I have is that the collisions on the "enemy" could be a bit meatier, you know? A nice sound effect when they are hit with maybe some gibs spraying out too? It made them feel a bit too weak that your bullets just sail just through them and they fall over (albeit with some momentum - but still...)

Everything else is great though. Nice work! Thumbs up.

Religious hatred has never before been this much fun. Good work.

I think it's cute you were concerned about getting sued over this.

Liang Xiansheng, ni shi hui Zhongwen de ren?
(Sorry for the no tone marks... I'm not on a computer with Chinese support)

I'm downloading this, because I saw some of the sprites in your portfolio and they look damned impressive.

Bah, I was really looking forward to this, but it seems like most Click games on this machine paste into the background. Did you use Text Blitter for your characters?

@ bo fu
no i didn't.

@kazuma
i think its cute how naive 17 year olds are.

Okay, game works on this computer. No idea why, but it was pasting into the background on my other one.

Heh heh, I love it. The graphics are so awesome.

As always, a great game Jerry

hahahahahahahaha, shit dude, i was playing this and something seemed familiar.

then i realized a lot of the sounds you used were from my game, operation sitting duck 2.

anyways, cool game. i didn't really notice anything political about it, it seemed like a straightforward shooter, but it was a pretty good one at that.

Very well made! Absulutly good! But from my own experience with scientology, they aren't look like that at all!!! These people are and has totally different systems against or go with people, other than a violent mind kill!

Do you know what i hate?
Infact i always hate something..
But the things i hate most about these games apart from installers instead of rars/zips is Stuff that can't be skipped before the menu or before the game starts such as sucky intros or useless text.. and fake loading screens, but you didnt have that.. thats good :]

.. Thumbs up i guess.

My only complaint is that there doesn't seem to be a way of restarting the level without going through the "This game does not condone violence!" screen.
Every.
Freaking.
Time.
But otherwise, it's awesome.

phew alot to respond to.

@ Sir Derek Yu(u)
First, congrats at GDC. Jon Mak (everyday shooter) told me you guys did quite well. Second, I found the sounds on a free library. But after playing your game, it does appear they are your sounds. Hope you don't mind.

@ everyone who says theres no political perspective
Its not a political game

@ NekoOtaku
Sorry.
