This is an early version of Action Slip 2 Earths Nightmare, it is the sequel to Action Slip.(Which was never posted to this site) This version only includes a short level. Everything should work, but its only an early version so if it crashes let me know!

Taken from the help section of the game-

Info-

Action Slip 2 Earths Nightmare is an top down shoot-em-up that requires the player to control a space craft or a "ship" to progress in each level. to progress you must destroy enemies that fly down at you from the top of the screen, this is no easy task as the enemy's have complex flight patterns meant to confuse you.

In order to destroy the enemies you must shoot at them using your main weapon or upgrade weapons that can be Acquired by collecting power-ups that can be found on each level. once you master the basic concept you will be able to progress more easily.

Controls-

To play Action Slip 2 Earths Nightmare you will need a keyboard, a US keyboard is recommended. Make sure it is correctly plugged in.

The following keys are default, you can remap the keys in game from the options menu, you can also use a joystick if you must.

up arrow=move ship up

Down arrow=move ship down

right arrow=move ship right

left arrow=move ship left

control=fire current weapon

space=drop bomb (must be over land)

The game doesn't seem to like some computers for some reason so if it crashes at startup for you let me know.

Updated- Changed the fire key to control due to complaints about sticky keys, if you liked it better before you can change the controls in the options menu under "remap keys"

Changed the last screenshot to a better one

Updated- Changed the speed of the plasma shot weapon

Updated- Changed some of the graphics, fixed the clear bonus bug

Updated- Fixed a pause menu bug,(joystick problem) also tank would keep moving after pause, fixed

Updated- Might have fixed a bug with too many lives being subtracted at once

Updated- Redid all of the planet graphics, and a few others, see if you can spot the differences, the graphics look a whole lot better now, but as stated before they look better in game, so redownload if you already did!

Updated- Added difficulty modes

Updated- Changed powerup Method, you will no longer lose your upgrade status if you grab powerup different from the weapon your using, but the only way to upgrade is to collect powerups of your current weapons color

yeah the graphics aren't the best, and thats evident in screenshot {removed}, I'm not the best graphic artist, but I'm remaking some of them, also please read the "how to play" section in the game, the power-ups may give you some trouble if you don't know how they work!

Wow, I'm actually impressed.
At first your screenshots made me think that this was another game with mediocre graphics, and gameplay.

BUT- once you actually get the game downloaded and play it, the graphics really arent that bad, and the gameplay is really fun! I actually played for a while and had to stop myself so I can write this. Hahah, what im trying to say is:
Okay graphics.. Fun gameplay.. 4/5

I don't see anything wrong with the graphics. That's the style of the game.

Well it is the style of the game but there is room for improvement and I know that, I kind of threw them together because I enjoy coding more than graphics, but I am working on improving the graphics now as well. Also the reason your saying the is because I took down the screenshot of the buildings which looked horrible, I'm remaking those graphics right now.

the screenshots dont do it justice kazuma. they actually look really great ingame. and that was just pure awesome.

i especially loved the muziks.

one thing i would say takes away from the score is that the enemies are way to blazing fast for the slow ass firing weapons you start out with.

speed the weapons up a bit and maybe slow down the enemies at the beggining and the final game would be tops. 4 stars for that but hopefully it achieves 5 stars by its completion.

about the weapon speed, it is possible to clear the screen of the enemies at the beginning, but you might be right, they are a bit slow, I'll look into it, the full version has a difficulty setting too, maybe I'll make that one of the changes on the "training" difficulty ...

Ok, I just gave the first weapon a little speed boast, tell me what you think, I'm uploading the update now

Very nice concept, the only place where the graphics seemed lacking to me was on the planet, with the buildings.

I did however notice that the tanks don't pause when the pause menu is opened - just a heads up.

Thanks for that heads up, thats why I uploaded it here, fixing...fixed

Everything was good except the weapon system. I think it would be much better if the player could either just hold the fire button or if the cool-down was much shorter. Recharging took all the fun out of the laser...

I also found it a bit annoying that the weapon was downgraded once the ship hit a new weapon. I would have prefered if every pick-up had a positive effect. It could be that the new weapon is applied together with the current weapon, that the weapon level is kept with the new gun, or that the weapons merged in some way, or just anything that isn't bad.

As I said though, everything else was cool, especially your graphical effects like lights, the blurring and the newspaper etc.

I think I found a bug:

In space, in the 2nd wave or whatever, after the electric things, if you die, its game over, even if i still have 3 lives, it still gives me a game over if I die there.

@ Zezard

Well I had the reload times shorter at one time, but then for me it was too easy, I'll make more difficulty modes with shorter reload times, and the weapon system was made to add a bit of strategy to the game, but I'll admit some of the weapons could start out a little better.
@ MacAdaM

I wasn't able to replicate that bug, but I think I know what the problem is, it just took the right timing to happen. Trying to fix it now...Fixed (I think) The problem was due to the fact that the game wouldn't stop collision detection for enemies when you died, and some of them would hit your ship on the way out subtracting more lives, thats my theory, I fixed that problem I hope

Something else I'd like to know, how many people sat and watched the pattern on the "hall of fame" screen? Its pretty entertaining you know.

Sorry I accidentally uploaded the wrong file, I'm reuploading now - done

I really like the game, but the weapons system should still be revised I think. It seems unfair that ALL of the other weapons get completely downgraded when a power-up of a different color is picked. It's easy to accidentally grab a power-up just as it changes color (especially since you are trying to dodge things at the same time), so it seems unfair to punish the player so harshly. It would be more fun to collect power-ups for all of the guns! That way players can feel free to switch from time to time without starting from scratch.

That actually sounds like a great idea, I'm going to make it keep your upgrade status when you collect a new powerup, you'll only lose everything if you die. Updating the demo now...Updated!

I like it better now, although I still died too much to ever see a weapon get powered up very much. I think with more levels and some bosses (and maybe powerups a bit more often?) this is going to turn into a great game!

I also really like the fact that there are unlockable ships!
