Well, folks, I was back there in my Gramma's house, and I had a dream. A strange one. Like, jumping stick figures. When I woke up, I thought that maybe that would be a new oportunity to create an all-new game, with classic gameplay. Also, that game was made for the 20 Event Competition. I used 19 Event Lines, so It's quite simple. I just hope you enjoy playing it, and that you have a nice time competing with your friends.

PS: Be careful with the flying pigs!

Cute music, I liked the music.. Did you make it?

I think you should change some things in the actual game.

-Make the jump a bit higher
-Space the platforms farther apart
-Make the platforms spawn more randomly they seemed to really love spawning near the right edge.

Cool idea, and decent execution.

This is better than anything Gamester can make.

Thanks!
I did the music by myself after I did the game. I made it to fit exactly with the theme.

About changing it, I don't think I'm gonna change anything. Cuz' i released the game like that, and that's how it's gonna be. I know this is not usual, but in competition purposes, i think that's the way it should be.

Take a look at my blog, if you like this game you'll like Mafagafo Killing Center (GOTW here in TDC, #34, and Zombie Arena ( http://www.create-games.com/download.asp?id=8329 ).

This is a good idea, but probably needs a few fixes to really shine. I understand that you might not want to change your game- it's not much fun having to go back and re-do stuff, but if you wanted to know what could be done better, here are some ideas for how you can improve the game:

* There are various grammatical issues throughout. "Press Left to High" for instance was very confusing. It should say "Press left for highscores". Similarly, "Press down to Instructions" should say "Press down for instructions", "specially" should say "especially", "the reak thing" should say "the real thing", etc. It would also be nice if the text was not in the standard MS Sans font, since that is quite ugly- this goes for the score counter too.

* Sometimes, it is literally impossible to make any successful jump at all. You need to make sure that the player is never punished unfairly by the game mechanic- it should always be possible to make the next jump, with sufficient skill. The platforms are sometimes too far apart, so even a perfect player will die for no reason. This can happen extremely early on too (a few times I've had it happen with the very first platform!), which makes the game reliant on luck- something you generally want to avoid in a game like this, particularly if you only give the player a single life. If I was to guess, I'd say you are using an event like _Every 0'20"_ or similar, which will not be synchronised well (since you will start the game at a random time, and so the event will take varying time to fire initially). I recommend using a counter that "Always" increments or decrements, and fire your event when it hits a certain value (resetting it afterwards of course).

* The character jumps even if his head touches a platform, rather than his feet. He also jumps even if he was already jumping, rather than only if he was falling. Both of these come across as both unrealistic and really dangerous, as they lead to unintentionally jumping really high out of the screen- which means mysterious collisions with invisible pigs happen, and the player suddenly dies. On that note- I think it would be better if the pigs simply stunned the player, so that they were forced to sit still for a while (then the level will catch up to them, so it is still dangerous, but less punishing than simply dying instantly). This will further help to solve the problem of dying offscreen for seemingly no reason.

* The clouds are spawning as a whole cloud, rather than spawning offscreen and gradually drifting into view. You should spawn them up at say, y co-ordinates of -200 or so. Interestingly, you seem to remember to have done this on the intro screen, but not in the game screen itself.

* It is never explicitly mentioned that the screen wraps around (left to right). This would probably be a good addition to the instructions page.

* I also agree with urbanmonk- the sticks appear disproportionately often on the right hand side of the screen. So much so that barring the odd stick that spawns unfairly far away (see earlier point), you can just sit on the far right and sticks will essentially always be there.

* The music is pretty cool, but you've left the main menu and instructions page silent. Would be nice to have a (perhaps slightly more mellow) tune going on there too

Yep. After That, I may recosinder re-making everything in the game. But now I'm too busy with a project.

So, When I finish editing it, I'll post it here at TDC.

PS: Thanks a lot for beying honest, I like when people do that!

No worries. I also like hearing constructive criticism, so I can learn to create better games over time.

Good luck with your new project, hope you have fun with it

I have to agree with everything Bricnic said.

It also seems a lot like "Icy Tower" (itself a copy of another game), but without the complexity or polish - no doubt due (at least in part) to the 20-event limit.

"Sometimes, it is literally impossible to make any successful jump at all."

Yeah that is the biggest problem.

The game is a bit rough in many ways including times where you will be launched right above the top of the screen due to consecutive platforms only to be killed by something.

Nice music though.
