AGwaK Adventures v1.0 RC

Huh?! Wha? RC?

Yes!! It means it basically is done, complete and tested but I may have missed a small little something.

I want to know about some Technical Nonsense please!

You nerd! Go shave your neckbeard. It cannot compete against mine so you might as well. Anyway, here you go:

-It is point and click and in 3rd person
-Made in Flash with Vectors and stuff
-Over 20 rooms
-Over 6 very bleepy but original songs
-There's a pixelly retro graphics mode
-It has only one save slot (but the game is short so who cares, right?)
-Can run on mobiles if I get around to make such a version (it's always such a bother...!)
-Plays and looks like some silly old adventure from the 90s
-Support for other platforms will follow through Adobe AIR

Tell me more about this game!

Sure thing. So this is an adventure game featuring Kittey and Herbert who is a pond hippo from space. Together, they face horrible monsters, witches and robots and also have to save Kitty Island from exploding right under their butts. Quite a task for the two chubbies! Can they do it?!

Ever played an older 3rd person point and click adventure game? Yes? Then you'll be just fine. Dive right in!

The 4 action cursors WALK LOOK TALK USE can be selected on the right UI bar or by using the mousewheel.

Hotspots are labeled, so you always know if something can be clicked. Pixel hunting has been reduced to a minimum.

The bag icon at the top left is the inventory. Use the normal cursor to select an item. The USE icon triggers a use action on the item and does not select it.

There are dialog options. Just pick whatever your little guy is supposed to say. But be nice to strangers okay!!

What else?

Happy playings!

Got it now!
This game is awesome indeed! I wonder how it could be missed by so many...

Thanks for playing! I guess adventure games aren't everyones' cup of tea. It's a Flash game as well, and this site is mostly for TGF/MMF games, I think.

Well, I'll make sure to review it. Just you wait!

im sorry to say this but this looks pretty awful. while you are genius at pixel art and i saw a bunch of your shit you did in photoshop ages ago which is just impressive as well with great shading and wonderful colours this one looks just bad compared to BERNIE standards. it looks like the kind of thing 14 years old kids submit to newgrounds saying: h1 guyz th1s is my first flash.

i wouldnt be such a dick if i didnt know you can do better- way better. just the sprite of the cat alone looks the awful and the backgrounds look pretty cold. just because its vectors and flash doesnt mean it has to lack in detail. the colours are cold and boring.

well lets see what its like in motion but so far im pretty disappointed unless 14 years old bernie did it- in that case GREAT WORK little buddy

It is ok MasterM, little Bernie can take it. I was aiming for a simple style and game as I didn't want this to take a year or longer to make. I dislike making complicated animations, and vectors certainly are very different to handle than pixels.

That said, personally I enjoyed making this and I might make another one like this even if there's a chance some folks don't like it.

About detail: This is supposed to run on handhelds, and the number of details in the background affect the speed a lot. The town screen for example plays slightly sluggish on my 1 GHz phone, and it's not the code but the vector drawings that cause it. The pixel mode runs a little faster.

I'm open for criticism but it'll have to be something I can use and apply, otherwise I'll have to dismiss it. (Example: looks awful or lacks detail does not help. It's stating your opinion which is okay too, but it's not a form of criticism that will ever be useful to anyone.)

And: Thanks for playing!! (but only if you've played it...! )

Wow Masterm you sound really depressed in your post there. I loved the graphics they just fit the style perfectly and the little animations sequences you get if you accomplish something are very well animated and funny also. Still playing still loving it

I'm playing this at school while I wait for my next class. heh heh.

The graphics are fine to me.

They could use a little more brighter colors, but I'm not finished playing yet, so yeah.

It's an error, the run file is just the flash projector flash puts out. You can rename it to an exe if you want. You'll find that only antivir will complain about the file. Common problem.

Hahaha...over the course of almost 10 years nobody has really changed much around here. Oh MasterM. Annywayy, this looks swell and I'm happy you're working with other platforms.

Thanks for playing! There's a secret puzzle that'll let you expand the ending, but that's optional.

I usually love Bernie Games, so I must be honest The art style really puts me off this game. I don't think MasterM meant to sound depressed/negative, most Bernie games are a lot prettier than this >.<

If you want to affect my future work I need more detailed criticism, suggestions and maybe paintovers and whatnot. While its nice to know your opinion, it's impossible to get anything out of it.

Then again, I'm new to vector art, so we'll see what my next project looks like.

It needs to look a lot cleaner, scrap the doodled look, it looks like some kind of typical flash doodles at the moment.

Your characters seem to be less cutesy and more goofy/cartoony in this style , though I guess that's personal preference... Overall, the style just looks like less time has been spent on it. I say that comparing it to some of the artwork you have posted on your site in previous months/years

Cedric and the revolution had a higher standard IMHO

Yeah, I don't have as much time for games as I used to. Something will suffer, and I prefer it to be the graphics instead of the coding or content.
This is about as detailed as time allows right now:
(pixels again, I always prefer them)

There's a huge difference between pixel graphics and vectors. I spent more time on learning the former, but don't wanna give up vectors and 3d modelling. I like experimenting, and it doesn't always go well.

I'm stuck on the rainbow dust atm - no idea where to start unlike with the dream cake. I wish there were GameFAQs for klik games.

I didn't like the adventure game problem of not being able to obtain an item simply because you're not supposed to at that point but that is a very minor issue.
